looking to improve the front suspension on my 78 cb550 cafe racer as it is just to soft. I was planning to buy the wagon front springs always good reports on them but had also heard of people adding washers to compress the springs more. Is this a waste of time or does it work and if so how many washers. Any advice would be great thanks

CB750 / Brand new cb750 4 into 4 possibly for sale
« on: March 08, 2014, 05:38:30 PM »
Hea all father in law and I purchased a 1974 cb750 last week.It came with a brand new (still all in boxes) tank, side covers in candy gold and emblems/stickers for tank and side covers. Brand new 4 into 4 still in honda packaging so far we have only bike home as the man lives nearby. He isn't 100% sure if he has the whole system we have only seen two exhausts so far he is still to check in his attic. Either way we are going to sell the exhaust so thought I would check for any interest on here. Hopefully soon I can confirm if it's for a full system or not

I live about 15 min away from aca moyce and have been in his workshop, one of his best friends is my father in law so comes in handy when building my bike. The skills that man has would scare you ive been there watching him building a tank with complete tanks sitting there as well. Even his drixton frames are a work of art. My father in law bought one of his kits and aca and him built the bike at his workshop i will try and get some photos of it and his workshop if he is ok with it.

Just found the Marzocchis Stuart. They measure just short of 13" eye to eye. However one of the seals is leaking. The rods look fine, not pitted or rusty, the springs are great at first glance, don't appear to be chipped or rusty. If the seal was replaced I'd imagine they'd be fine, the bodies are not too bad but there is a small area where it's been catching something and it's ground a little of the alloy away.

ok great could pm me a price for them please

I have a pair of partially dismantled Marzocchi Strada AG rear shocks in the loft (the ones in red with the piggyback reservoir), no idea of length but will have a look. Even if your weren't interested or they were not good enough at least you'd know if another set of them would be suitable.

i would be very interested in these  8)

yep loads of stories about effects on handling from raising the rear end (eg tank slapping tendancies)... but equally loads that say its nothing to worry about as long as you fit a damper. Roads here have been on a downhill slide since the Romans buggered off home.

I reckoned I needed the 2 inch extra to guarantee that the rear tyre wouldnt rub on the base of the hoop plate ..

Never thought to check swing arm / chain clearance and the bike's in bits again just now while the frame is with the powder coater.

Shocks are custom Hagons

think i might invest if a damper as well as froth wagon springs front is to soft
