No that's the huge one at the back I reckon, looks like it. The largest one is the steering stem one, the smallest I think is the clutch nut, I think the front wheel bearing retainer is next to that, it's the one next to the biggest I think I can't identify.

Oh those, different bolt I think on the 500, mine have been replaced by some gold Titanium ones with gold Titanium shouldered lock nuts. The 500 ones are 8mm I seem to recall the 550F uses 6mm bolts, could be wrong, many years since I stripped a 550F.

Did you get No.2 Roo, it's a different length to the 500 so make sure it's the same if you have. Sure Max knows what he's doing but TBH he'd only make what he's been asked for and I gave him the dimensions of that spacer for the 500 not the 550. So unless someone told him they were different he may think they are the same, same for the sprocket seal one on the other side, different between the 500 and 550.

Someone does the mesh holder on site, 3D printed IIRC. The mesh can be bought off Ebay, get stainless so it doesn't rust.

I have an alert set up so when one comes up on Ebay it lets me know, my BIL wanted another as he stood on his, well mine as it my bike but he's sort of adopted it. So I set up the alert in case one turned up.

I'll PM you the details of the Ebay auction it's on, the key number is very rare, this is the first time I've ever seen one, my daughters in NY right now and I asked her to buy it for me but she's not sure if they'd deliver to a hotel and what happens if it's delayed and she's gone home by the time it arrives etc.

Sitting down Roo?

Thought this might interest you. I'd advice seeing if they have any more next time you're over there before they see what it's worth.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204156719367?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11021.m43.l3160&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=90cafac477e54725baa807080c211eab&bu=43136868494&ut=RU&exe=0&ext=0&osub=-1%7E1&crd=20221118070116&segname=11021

Prices are going really silly.

I need a key ordering for my 500, found one, genuine Honda, same key number as mine but the seller won't post to the UK and he doesn't accept messages, if you're going again let me know.

550F doesn't have the chain adjuster blocks Roo, only the 500 and 550K3 has them due to the 4 pipes and the need for the back wheel to come out backwards.

Don't forget the front bolt as well Roo. And the bottom engine bolt once I give him the specs.

I'm suggesting more stuff for Max to consider making, stuff I have found to be either hard to source now, like the rear torque arm bolt above, or is subject to rust due to location and the lack of attention it gets.

Max makes some really nice parts, lovely finish on them. Saves me polishing them further  ;D ;D

Ohhhh, just thought of another for Max, those special 7mm pinch bolts and shouldered nuts on the top yoke of the 550. The OE ones are chrome, which is nice but then the edges get a little nick and they rust on the very edges of the nut. The centre bolt being 8mm is easy to source in stainless.

Out & About / Re: Out and about 2022

Just thought of an addition to No.3

3. Standing up to wave at fellow motorcyclists so you make sure they see you and wave back. Maybe consider just using one arm in future.

I'd probably get too angry at the course leader for a Road Rage course.  ;D ;D ;D

TBH, I don't do No.1 UNLESS I'm in the mood.

I do do No.2 as they piss me off with their lack of thought and bad driving skills. Most times I do it in lane 3 and do it with my left hand as it's easier than using my right.

I don't do No.3 at all, maybe a hand lift if I see them.

I sometimes do No.4 just to annoy them, whilst passing them at a great rate of knots, just so they can see what a real motorcycle looks like  ;D ;D

I did mine in 2007.

5 PM on a Friday from the McDonalds car park next to the Madejski Stadium in south Reading. A mile of stationary dual carriageway and then one junction of the M4 ( also mostly stationary). Then the examiners favourite north Basingstoke country lanes.

Two minor infringements:
1. Not moving back into lane 1 quickly enough after a motorway overtake.
2. Not accelerating fast enough out of a 30 limit into a National.

I can live with them.

Oh I can just see mine now if I went for it.

1. Got the knee down on roundabouts a little too quickly
2. Giving an obscene hand gesture to the car driver hogging the middle lane on the motorway whilst passing in the inside lane, just to show them where they should be driving.
3. Standing up to wave at fellow motorcyclists so you make sure they see you and wave back.
4. Shaking the head at Harley riders for their choice of motorcycle.

Feel free to add any others I've missed.

Be careful what you wish for. The questions about substantially altered from the original condition could mean anyone who's done a cafe racer for example could find they are no longer classified as historic. How far from the OE condition does it have to be? needs an original exhaust for example, giving them info like this could come back to bite you.

I'm looking at that kit and I'm wondering why 4 castellated nut removers, one is front wheel bearing retainer, one is the clutch centre nut, one is the steering stem nut but I can't think what the 4th one is for.

The vac adjuster tool is too small IMO, the long Honda one is FAR better to use and it's not that dear to buy. The rotor puller, the 4 way cross type from Honda is excellent, never failed me yet in the 40 years I've had it.

He also does the front torque arm bolt. Got both of mine yesterday.

Just thought of another part that would be great in stainless, the drive chain adjuster stoppers that go inside the swinging arm, mine are rusty as hell.

I've asked him for the lower engine bolt as well, already got one on mine and it looks great so maybe others could benefit as well.

CB650 / Re: What carbs ?
« on: November 17, 2022, 01:44:13 PM »
Just sent a genuine Honda workshop manual to Ash the other day. All it really had in it was carbs and how to disassemble and assemble them, 650C IIRC. He'll put it on the site shortly, might be useful for you. Also had wiring diagrams in but not much else. Probably some sort of appendum for the main manual.

Odd thing is that Yamiya list that part for the 750K2-6 IIRC.

Sorry Bryan, missed the reference to the drive plate. Thought you were talking about the drive itself, oddly a quick search of that part number turns up a pic on the Yamiya site which shows a plate with a rubber seal around and 2 others without. Maybe as you said it was some modification that either never caught on and was dropped asap or a very rare part only fitted to a few bikes.

Never seen or heard of one before.

Fair play Paul, it's a nice little tool you knocked up there.
