Finally got around to ordering the repair part for my original lock barrel  and it's the wrong part doh! I am currently using the D'S part, but would prefer to go back to the original key.

The plastic part that arrived is the correct 5 pin connector, but has three tangs to locate it in the ignition barrel, regrettably my barrel only has two. Also the plastic part is a mm or so to big

I will take some photo's tomorrow, but in the interim, can anyone steer me in the right direction ir shed some light on the matter?

Thanks

As a newbie, I've willingly donated a few quid.

Forgot to say, John has retired and Steve runs the place. I still take my bikes there for their MOT.

Crowborough, home of John Harris Motorcycles. A fine town, I worked and lived in Uckfield for a few years.

Once it started, which took a while due to an air lock in the fuel line, I had a road tax free run down the road to Brighton and back. Splendid.

I didn't need mot and insurance, lady at the PO scanned V5, got me to sign the box, tore the bit off to send to the DVLA and did so (no charge), gave me a receipt saying taxation class changed to historic12 months tax paid at nil cost. Painless!

I thought all the mot and insurance stuff was checkable without the actual bit of paper, but rules is rules.....

Yes I would think you're right about the May 20th date if your bike's mot  has expired and you aren't going to have it tested again.

The DVLA states, apply at a Post Office that deals with vehicle tax.

You need to take:

the log book (V5C) in your name
your vehicle tax reminder letter (V11), if you have one
an MOT certificate that’s valid when the tax starts, or evidence if your vehicle’s exempt from an MOT (V112)
an insurance certificate or cover note (only in Northern Ireland)

For those with bikes registered/ manufactured  in 1977,  the DVLA website has been updated to state " History " vehicle tax class now applies. 😁

Could one of you who understands the DVLA  nuances please clarify, my bike was first registered in Feb '77, do I have to wait till May 20th to register it as Historic, or can I do it now? Quite pertinent as I am about to tax the machine. Thanks
