« on: October 24, 2017, 09:13:33 PM »
Just adding the finishing touches to my 1977 400 Four. Please could someone advise me of the correct placement for the following stickers.
i. Tyre Size and Pressures
ii. Preserve Nature where a crash helmet.

TIA

Pads must be bedding in a bit, or I'm getting more used to the braking levels. Either way it certainly reinforces the "Roadcraft" style of a planned ride.

Laying the bike up for winter, so that's it for this year.

Brake system has been fully overhauled, I've never had a firmer lever! I will look into the EBC pads and disc skimming, the disc is quite new?

Now I'm up and running on CB400F (and loving the ride), what is the general opinion on brake pads? Mine is fitted with 1990's Honda genuine pads, but I would like a bit more bite, any ideas ? Thanks in advance.

Diaphragm looks good, no further leaks today, fluid level just below the line on the reservoir, so maybe I had over filled it.

I have the white L Section washer and it looks in very good condition, and other ideas?

Help / advice needed?

The final job of recommissioning my  my UK spec 1977 400 Four, is causing me some grief.

I have spent today installing a DS master cylinder service kit. I had the devil's own job getting  the wire clip (spring wire not circlip) to hold the rubber boot is there an easy way for this?

Regrettably, there is still a slight weep from the lid of the reservoir unless I tighten the lid to full Muller (technical term). Do I need a new rubber for the cylinder or perhaps a new lid? Lever is now firm and no other leaks.

The bike has passed the MOT and I have now ridden 100 miles with no other issues, it's a great ride!

Not Hastings but near to Newhaven, Hastings did receive some bad press a while back, it has a certain charm and is a shadow of it's previous self.

Thanks yes the Spindle is in the wrong way....

Hi all,

Just sold my modern bike, and bought a 1977 CB400F.

The bike was restored by the previous owner in 1989, but it hasn't been ridden since, It sort of runs, I've got to sort carbs, front brake, a service and possibly some tyres and then it's back on the road.
