Anorak's Corner / CB750 K1 cam lobe measurements
« on: April 05, 2021, 01:14:41 PM »
Hi. Are these the correct lobe measurements for a K1 cam as I've looked in the manual which says
Inlet 35.86mm
Exhaust 35.36mm
Mine are a bit under in most cases so I suspect a new cam is in order but thought I'd check first! Ta.

Anorak's Corner / Vesrah gasket kits CB750 K1
« on: September 18, 2020, 06:21:10 PM »
Long shot but I've ordered a Vesrah gasket set from Dave Silver for my 1971 K1, the part number of which (VG-157) does match the number on web site when searching for the K1. But the actual kit says it's for K4 / 5. Will this fit (to save me an email in Monday!!)? The 'actual' K1 is VG-156 after searching the interwebs. Ta.

Anorak's Corner / CB750!K1 or K6 cylinder bore identification
« on: September 09, 2020, 09:10:38 PM »
Hi. I've got two cylinder bores as part of my K1 restoration and need some help. I'm trying to identify if I have a K1 cylinder bore from the two in the attached pics as the bike came with a K6 engine installed but the original K1 in bits. The K1 in the pic has more o-rings than the K6. My goal is to match my K1 cylinder head with the K6 in the pic if possible as one of the K1 liners is cracked. I checked cmsln online which shows the K1 just having the two o-rings but don't know how accurate that is. Hope that makes sense! Thank all.

Anorak's Corner / Tap n die set recommendations
« on: June 30, 2020, 10:55:00 AM »
Looking for a good quality tap n die set and don't want to get cheap eBay crap. Also what sets are needed for Honda's as I've read there's some JIS threads which have a different pitch to normal metric? The bike I'm getting I know for a fact has a broken head bolt so need help getting the right gear chaps. Thanks.

CB750 / Engine shop recommendations West Yorkshire
« on: June 18, 2020, 07:02:51 PM »
Ey up. Any fellow West Yorkshire folk here.
Im looking for recommendations for a good engineering shop for re-boring / head / general engine refurb or bead blasting etc, as I'm looking at buying a K1 which will no doubt need some TLC.

Does anyone have experience with a good shop in the area?

Whats the average cost say to rebore a 750 if needed (say .25 overbore as an example)?

I dont know what needs doing yet as I dont even have the bike but looking to get ideas of costs for work.

ta

New Member Introductions / Hi from West Yorkshire

Thanks for accepting me into the group.
The reason Im here is Im hoping to start a restoration project on a CB750 K1 (sourcing a bike as we speak) in the near future and as such am doing some research, joining groups, looking at online PDFs of engine schematics which Im not even working on yet, finding out who the hell the mysterious Dave Silver is and wheres his website etc etc etc!!
Currently riding a 2017 Suzuki SV650 (first big bike) and buying tools almost daily at the moment to get my old knackered tool set up to date.
Its been a few years since I picked up a spanner so looking forward to the challenge of bringing an old girl K1 back to life. Id probably class myself as a 'lapsed' biker as I had a few off road / dirt bikes back in the late 80s when I was a lad but not got my UK licence till about 2 years ago.
Look forward to getting tips from you guys / gals in the near future!
All the best. :D
