I would take caution on reboring firms .. a lot of them don't work to Jap bike tolerances. You won't go wrong if you go to Trigger & Julie for at least rebore & head work. ....plus a very tranquil and charming part of the country to visit and always a warm welcome there. As you will gather from the banter they are quite popular on here.  ;)

Also, if you are shopping around for pistons make sure the +0.25mm is enough for the wear on your bores (or they have not been bored already). Quite often if there has been water or rust damage or ring breakage you will need to go up two rebore sizes.
Thanks Ash. Glad I joined this group. Lots of useful leads already

CB750 / Engine shop recommendations West Yorkshire

Ey up. Any fellow West Yorkshire folk here.
Im looking for recommendations for a good engineering shop for re-boring / head / general engine refurb or bead blasting etc, as I'm looking at buying a K1 which will no doubt need some TLC.

Does anyone have experience with a good shop in the area?

Whats the average cost say to rebore a 750 if needed (say .25 overbore as an example)?

I dont know what needs doing yet as I dont even have the bike but looking to get ideas of costs for work.

Welcome to the forum.  Nice to see any of these sohc bikes brought back into use.

We've been out during the lockdown on a couple of Halifax's finest,  Orange downhill bikes  :D
The one I have me eye on is a K1.and I'd love to do a full nuts, washers and bolts restoration bringing it as 'close to it was the day it was born' if possible.

Thanks for accepting me into the group.
The reason Im here is Im hoping to start a restoration project on a CB750 K1 (sourcing a bike as we speak) in the near future and as such am doing some research, joining groups, looking at online PDFs of engine schematics which Im not even working on yet, finding out who the hell the mysterious Dave Silver is and wheres his website etc etc etc!!
Currently riding a 2017 Suzuki SV650 (first big bike) and buying tools almost daily at the moment to get my old knackered tool set up to date.
Its been a few years since I picked up a spanner so looking forward to the challenge of bringing an old girl K1 back to life. Id probably class myself as a 'lapsed' biker as I had a few off road / dirt bikes back in the late 80s when I was a lad but not got my UK licence till about 2 years ago.
Look forward to getting tips from you guys / gals in the near future!
All the best. :D
