CB750 / F2 Oil pressure switch
« on: December 14, 2020, 06:57:06 PM »
Anyone used an aftermarket oil pressure switch in place of the OEM  part?
What pressure should the switch operate at?

CB750 / Gold Fren brake pads
« on: June 30, 2010, 10:04:27 AM »
Renewing pads in the next week or so. Has anyone used pads from Gold Fren before? They seem reasonably priced on eBay at the moment at just shy of 40 quid for all three discs.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220455500438&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

The pads that I have fitted to the F2 at the moment are from the 80s so I would expect these to be a bit better. What pads are others using at the moment?

Have fun

CB750 / F2 carb flooding
« on: June 16, 2010, 08:42:07 PM »
Had the carbs off today for a clean. Noticed that brass overflow tube in #1  carb bowl is missing and hole where it should sit is filled with some sort of liquid metal type putty. This has I suppose been done in the past for a split tube or something.
The bike is a good runner but I have never been 100% happy with the carburation.
Does the tube also act as balance line as well as an overflow?
Question is, assuming float height is ok and fuel level is correct will the lack of this tube cause any running issues? Do I need a replacement bowl?

Thanks guys
Andy

CB750 / 1978 F2 Float valve question
« on: May 10, 2010, 04:25:34 PM »
Of the four float valves in my 1978 750 F2 carbs, two of them have little pins at the opposite end to the seating tip that will move up and down and sit proud of the valve. The other two are sitting flush with the valve body and do not protrude. Is there a simple way to get the two that do not protrude out of the valve body and moving again?
I am trying to set float height and this discrepancy between the valves is not helping me.

cheers

CB750 / Pilot jet internal diameter
« on: May 10, 2010, 01:41:56 PM »
First post on here guys and it's a request for info on the size of the pilot jet internal bore on a 1978 F2 Phil Read Replica.
Trying to get the old girl going again after years of none use. During carb cleaning I have pulled the pressed in pilot jets out to check for restrictions. Looking at either end of the jet the bore seems to be of similar size, and I can get a pin into the jet from either end but not all the way through. At the point where the jet tapers down externally the pin will go no further. Am I correct in thinking that the internal bore reduces substantially towards the middle of the jet.  The only wire I can get through fully is a strand on copper wire that is almost hair like in diameter.
