CB750 / Re: The F2 Restoration

Hi there,
About to change the tyres on my own F2 and like the look of the Roadriders that you have gone for. Could I ask what sizes you have fitted?

Thanks Yoshi.
Single strand of multiflex wire seemed to do the trick and the old girl fired up first time after the carbs were refitted. Had the vac gauges on the carbs yesterday and she now purrs like a good un.

A quick blip round the block indicated that the brakes bind and so this is tonights job. Strip them down and clean up the piston seal.

Have fun
Andy

Joined this site recently and started the old girl up for first time in years today after a little TLC to the carbs..... Lovely.

Have tried to put a picture of her up. Hope it comes out. If not then any advice on uploading piccies appreciated.

CB750 / 1978 F2 Float valve question
« on: May 10, 2010, 04:25:34 PM »
Of the four float valves in my 1978 750 F2 carbs, two of them have little pins at the opposite end to the seating tip that will move up and down and sit proud of the valve. The other two are sitting flush with the valve body and do not protrude. Is there a simple way to get the two that do not protrude out of the valve body and moving again?
I am trying to set float height and this discrepancy between the valves is not helping me.

cheers
Andy

Thanks for that info Bryan. Yes, can only get a single strand through all 4 jets. Double up and it's a no go.

First post on here guys and it's a request for info on the size of the pilot jet internal bore on a 1978 F2 Phil Read Replica.
Trying to get the old girl going again after years of none use. During carb cleaning I have pulled the pressed in pilot jets out to check for restrictions. Looking at either end of the jet the bore seems to be of similar size, and I can get a pin into the jet from either end but not all the way through. At the point where the jet tapers down externally the pin will go no further. Am I correct in thinking that the internal bore reduces substantially towards the middle of the jet.  The only wire I can get through fully is a strand on copper wire that is almost hair like in diameter.
