Title: Cb500 four
Post by: Loti on November 15, 2017, 03:38:39 PM
Recently acquired a 1972 cb500 four, a bike I have know for a long time from the original owner, and will be doing a bit of light restoration on it as generally it is good, it has a 4 into 1 which is growing on me but would like to put the 4 pipes back on as that's what I remember from when the cb500  and the cb750 came out. I have the original purchase receipt and brochure for it.
Tank needs a respray then good enough for me. Only other Honda I have is 1967 p50 moped the one with the engine in the back wheel.

Hi and welcome - had a new 500Four in 72 which was a great bike that I did 42k on in 3 years. I have absolutely no knowledge of pulling one apart though - it run like a clock! (only problem was the exhaust rotted after a year and I had to put up with a deafening Dunstall for 2 years!)
Enjoy the forum

Thanks for replies and yes I will need some paintwork done in due course. I think the colour is candy gold, which seemed to be the most popular colour of the time for hondas. I have used it a couple of times and it rides well. If I put the original type exhausts back on do I have to rejet the carbs ?
