Hello Chaps.
I have just returned  to Cb750 ownership after many years absence. I previously owned 2 F1's which I heavily modified.
But now I am hoping to right the wrongs of the past. Where I intend to restore a Chopped CB750K1 back to the bike it deserves to be. What I am aiming for is a cosmetically tweaked bike using only period parts. Particularly a original Marvin 4into1 exhaust & two/four seat etc. So though not standard it will be a authentically period bike.
So would appreciate any help info & advise offered by you guys.
I live in Garstang Lancashire. With a long history of attending bike rallies TT & MGP.

Welcome to the forum, you'll enjoy the banter on here.
That's a nice collection, you must have a barn in your garden! CB175's were lovely looking bikes, especially the blue ones. I had a CB160 as my first bike, s/h CB175's were beyond my reach.
No Italian bikes on your list, you are missing out a vital part of biking life  ;)

Italian bikes... I have a very low pain threshold.
Not Dead only resting.
I try to get to Lytham Bike nights when I can. But working away form home make mid-week riding difficult.
Re, CB175's got to be the second best engine Honda ever made. So much fun & reliability from something so simple.
But the best motorcycle engine ever has to be Vfr750f
Has anyone heard of one failing. I certainly haven't.

Hi Sean,

I agree, the VFR is the best engine Honda ever made, they had to get it right after the chocolate cam VF :'( 

I bought a VFR800 when it was first released, the first new bike I ever owned.  Great bike, did everything and beautifully made.  I sold it after 7 years and bought a Triumph ST1050, lovely engine but the finish compared to the Honda was awful, within a year rust was appearing on bolt heads, paint flaked off the wheels, paint was paper thin everywhere. After selling the Sprint and the Blackbird that followed it I spent a few months looking for another VFR, I found a 1999 model in Halifax last summer with only 20k on the clock, it was like new and cost 2.5K. The 4 hour ride home reinforced just how great these bikes are.

As for Italian bikes, I've never had any issues but this could be because the Jota has quality electrical components from new and I changed the carbs from Dell's to Suzuki slingshot's and fitted a Witt ignition system.  I rode the Jota for 800 miles in one day from Venice to Calais following it's restoration with no problems.  I also have a 78 Morini 350 Sport, again never had any problems with it.
I would like a MZ Supa 5 sometime :o, I have a soft spot for those, a real workhorse and marmite styling.

Italian bikes have a bad (and possibly unjust) reputation for poor electrics and lack of oil filtration. Jap bikes have much better electrics and oil filtration but if the oil isn't changed on a regular basis the engines can still be toast within a couple of years of hard use.

I buy bikes because I like the look of them, how they ride and sound, the country where they are made is immaterial to me, all bikes are fun to ride and own in my book  :D

Hello Lav.
I used to quite fancy a Jota but the unpredictable handling & insurance put me off.
But I loved the Guzzi cafe racers the Germans came the the TT on in the 70's
Of late I have taken a fancy to small classic Dukes & Motobi's
I'm afraid I have lost all interest in modern bikes & those who ride them.
