Title: forks solvent

Hi, what type of solvent are you supposed to use when changing the fork oil, white spirit or something? can't use petrol so the book says.

I've always just drained them and refilled.

I use brake cleaner when cleaning any oily parts. It evaporates and leaves an oil free surface.

So how have you got all the sludge out of the bottom of the forks Steve ?. I found the thinners broke up all the sludge and debris at the bottom and by the time i had finished cleaning them out with blue paper wrapped round a welding rod, they were spotless. I probably went over the top with the cleaning as Trig would have made me do them again if they were not up to his standards !!! ::) ::) ::)
