Title: New guy here from Lincolnshire
Post by: Allington (Steve) on September 25, 2018, 12:36:13 PM
Hi guys,

Been a lurker for quite a while so I thought it was about time to register and put up a bit of a bio. I'm Steve from Allington just outside of Grantham and I am retired. I have just bought a CB500 four (not delivered yet hence no pic yet) to replace the one I had for a very short time back in the 70's. Been a died in the wool biker on and off since the early 70's but nowadays due to health, terrible roads here, traffic from hell and having the attention span of a goldfish any bikes are just an ornament that I pass the time of day buggering about with. It's in the blood.

Really enjoy reading the forum here so I thought it was time to step in and hopefully take part too.

Steve

Welcome to the forum Steve, from not far away just outside Horncastle. Yes, the road around Lincs are shite in places but as for volume of traffic, we find the roads pretty much dead over this way (being imports from down south everything is dead in Lincs....lovely!!) Enjoy playing with your new bike.

Thank you and looking forward to it arriving here  :)

My last bike here was a Harley Davidson Tractor Sporster (a late midlife crisis I think) and the roads and traffic in and around Grantham, the A1 and the A52 made me realise that I am far too long in the tooth to end up in a hedge on my backside now  :)

I have lots of info for the 500, manuals, parts books, service letters etc. What year is the one you have comming? Best of luck with it they are far lighter and more manouverable than Harley Fergusons

Welcome Steve, If you need someone to take the 500 for a run........

Seriously you will find it easier to handle that the Harley plow puller. Remember your retired and take it out when its quiet. Plenty of lovely b roads in your region.

Thank you :). It’s a 1975 which is the same and the same colour as the one I had back then too. Anything other than that I don’t know about as I haven’t seen it yet. My wife bought it for me and it doesn’t arrive here now until Thursday.

Thanks and I will bear that in mind but I think it’s a bit of a winter project first :)

I expect it brakes and handles better than the bloody HD thing too (until memories of the 70’s start flooding back at least :) )
