Title: CB750 Starter Motor
Post by: Crock41 on October 26, 2018, 03:16:54 PM
Tha starter motor on my CB750 K2 seems to struggle to turn the engine over.
I have replaced the battery.
Today I noticed that the starter and the earth cable are getting extremely hot when trying to crank the engine.
The bike turns over easy enough on the kick start
Is there a way of testing the starters motor

Probably best to remove it and strip/clean it as the bushes get tight when crudded up

It is not unusual for the earth cable to have a high resistance if connection to engine incorrect or paint is preventing full contact.

If you have jump leads try adding an extra lead from battery earth to engine to see if it makes a difference .

Also worth checking volt drop see https://www.autotechnician.org/starter-voltage-drop-test-explained-in-plain-english/ (https://www.autotechnician.org/starter-voltage-drop-test-explained-in-plain-english/)
