Hi Brituro please don't be a lurker on here and join us proper.

I suspect your are the manufaturer of pattern silencers for Hondas in birmingham. Was it your company featured on David Silvers Facebook pages?

Hi Joe. Welcome to the forum.

Do you have any plans / appetite to manufacture CB500/4 HM323 4-4 exhaust sets? If so I'm pretty sure there will be at least 10 of us here on the forum who would order sets..I'd order thre sets straight away.

Also, if you needed a set to use for jig / reference purposes I'd be happy to lend you a set.

Feel free to pm, email or reply here.

James.

Hi James

We had a tool made for the CB72/77 silencers and we have had so many issues with it. We started the process over a year ago and still haven't perfected the silencer, so we have no plans to start manufacturing any new silencers in the near future. If we do then I will make sure I post on here. Thanks for the offer though!

Joe

How close are your  CB250/350K silencers to standard Joe and are they comparable on noise levels? do you do your own chrome plating?

I reckon there is a much bigger market for those than CB72/77 as the CB350K was sold by the bucketload in the USA from 1968->1973 and there are floods of them being imported now by the likes of DK etc. Essentially the exhaust design never changed much apart from being one piece pipe/silencer  originally. NOS has dried up almost now.

Cheers ... Ash

Hi Ash

All our silencers are made exactly to the originals, including the internal baffles. I can send you some pics if you like?

We have been selling these for many years and they are a constant seller for us.

Joe why doesn't someone find the original presses for the 500 exhausts, they are still around but they were sold I'm led to believe to a firm in China who produced all the later ones that TBH weren't anywhere near as good as the original Honda pipes.

I'm sure with the original presses and proper English engineering you could produce a quality product, maybe even do some in stainless. Don't know if the presses could handle stainless instead of mild steel but you never know.

At the moment we are still trying to perfect a tool for the CB72/77 silencer so we have no plans in the near future to start manufacturing any new silencers, sorry.

Hi Ash

Great stuff  .. I think Saisei now have an account with you, when I need to buy a pair or do you sell direct?

What is the issue with CB72/77 silencers .. is it the pressing of such a curved shape?

The silencer begging for repro is the CD175A sloper one but I guess the low volumes concerned would make it not viable.

I think I met up with a guy in Chesterfield a few months back  who had loaned DS a CB72 downpipe to copy for reproduction (he's a CB450 'Bomber' nut).

Best regards ... Ash

You can purchase directly from us Ash.

Is this the CB175 you're on about?
https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/CD175A4-1972---1975/part_29975/

We are in the process of trying to get the correct bend for the downpipe, but having problems with the bending machine at the moment.

Nothing is ever as straight forward as it may seem! :o

Hi Joe,  and welcome to the sohc forum.

The exhaust that Ash is referring to is the earlier Honda CD 175A (1966-1969) known as the 'sloper' I have almost finished a restoration (now temporary fitted with some far-east exhausts)

The last pair that sold on 'ebay' recently went for £520.00 seller 'angelable'

If you decide to manufacturer the exhaust, then please contact me

Welcome Joe, to the mad world of the SOHC. I have been searching for a set of HM KW4 exhausts for the past 2 years with no luck whatsoever.

Very similar to the CD175 silencer we do. the only visible difference being the dip at the top of the silencer for the footrest.

You can then post them at 'full' size as I am unable to do this

Wow those Pictures look great and its so comforting  to see repro parts coming from a UK manufacturer. You obviuosly know your stuff but if you have any problems, then there are guys on here with a ton of knowledge in all sorts of fields. My expertise is in Electronics and automation. I also have access to someone who can do chemical and metalurgical analysis, usually on the 'old pals act'. A problem shared and all that.

I will post your pics on the Hondatwins.net  site. Its a much bigger site than this and certainly doesn't have the personal touch that SteveD has created with this forum. I know there is someone on there who has bought Dave Silvers CB450 twin repro pipes and is evaluating them at the moment. Do you make those?

Thanks Ash, it's rewarding getting such good feedback from people.

I may make a new "thread" and add a few pictures of our Honda silencers.

We don't make those particular pipes i'm afraid. The only Honda pipes we produce are the CB 200/175 and the CD 175.
