+1 for Esso Supreme.  No ethanol in most parts of the UK, but obviously a little more expensive than 95 - not that significant with limited mileage.

Check the choke lever’s fast idle adjustment also.  I had a similar experience on the shake down of my 400 and I hadn’t tightened the lock nut on the fast idle setting.

That was quick Roo and thanks for looking to see if you have any main jets.

No idea what you’re mixture screw covers are worth, but I think you’re correct in that they’re pretty rare, so got to be worth a try on Evil Bay   ;D

Would the large oval jubilee clip be lurking on the other side of that air box by any chance ?  If so, I could make use of it !

I have a set of Raask rear sets that I was going to use on my 400, but never got around to fitting and have now decided not to.

Bought them as a used set a few years back and they have been gathering dust in the garage ever since.

If anyone is interested, then let me know and I’ll send or add some photos.

Note that you cannot use the kick start with these fitted.

I have to agree with you Lobo !

I’m a petrol head who really appreciates a well engineered powertrain and I wanted to dislike driving an electric vehicle, but the reality is hugely impressive - certainly from a performance delivery perspective.  I recently had the opportunity to borrow a Ford Mach E for a week and whilst it had features I didn’t like, and it’s a style of vehicle that leaves me cold, I had to admit that the instant and effortless torque delivery is something an ICE just can’t compete with.

Charging via the public network was a pita and the range anxiety was definitely real for me in the short time I had the car.  It’s expensive and there are questions about future recycling etc, but honestly, after a week of driving, it’s easy to see how they will very quickly become the norm.

No problem.  Thanks for taking the time to look.

Hi All,

Does anyone have a spare air filter box clamp for a 400 that they can do without  ?  I'm looking for the large oval clamp that secures the plastic plenum chamber to the air filter box.

Thanks in advance for any help !

I have a neighbour a few doors away who still has his TL125 that he bought 45 years ago.  He didn't take to bikes, so it has only a few hundred miles on it and is sat in his workshop still waiting for it's first service !  Great looking little bike !

Check you have the brake side spacer fitted (item #154 in the parts illustration above) - I recall that the spacer is longer than the 1/4" you're looking for, but it does recess into the brg to give about that offset.

Welcome from a fellow NC30 owner !

You will enjoy the more sedate ride on a 70's SOHC and definitely find it easier to work on - plugs and valve clearances spring to mind as a pita on the VFR !
