New air box rubbers arrived today, so out after tea & got the carbs refitted, tank on & crossed fingers. Tank off again & reconnect throttle cables (more haste less speed) fingers crossed again, choke on press of the starter & she burst into life, bit rough also a bit smokey especially on the left hand cylinder, also discovered that at anything less that 2000 rpm the oil light comes on.
So packed in for the night to have a think. I have a new pressure switch so I guess that's first thing to try & perhaps remove & inspect the pump. Did think that the oil smoke got better as it ran briefly so that may settle but need to get to the bottom of the apparent lack of oil pressure. Hope this doesn't end in a full strip. 33

A few bits arrived from the states today from www.4into1.com
Ordered on the 7th arrived on the 15th Total cost was £52.06 & no import charges, out of interest I did a comparison with David Silvers, total cost £83.16 £31.10 diferance, makes you think doesn't it. Guess what I'm doing this weekend? Conrad 35

Well that's the fuel hose's replaced, tried to do it in situ but you were right mickwinf I had to take the carbs off.
Discovered that two of the air box to carb rubbers had splits in them so that's another few days waiting till a new set arrives. Also noticed that there is no drain hose from the air box this looks to need 12mm bore hose, can anyone confirm this before I order some. A question for when I come to replace the carbs, should the air box rubbers be attached to the air box or to the carbs before refitting, I ask as it was rather tight getting the carbs out. Conrad 36

Mine have arrived this morning, spot on. Very helpful guy, had to send a photo of one of the keys before he confirmed he could cut it. Both keys work fine.
Thanks Trigger 37

Mine has P L H, which I assume is park low high. So it looks like the side light should be on all the time the ignition is on.
I notice that the ignition has three positions, off on & what is the other one for? Just noticed that when I turn the ignition on the instruments light up & so does the rear light. Have had a look inside the headlamp this morning & found that the side light isn't connected. Another job to sort before MOT Conrad 42

Brianj,
Your correct there is no vin plate, yes the wheels are non standard, my intention is to put it back on to spoked wheels but the alloys will do for now. Oddjob, The lights work as they should other than there is no way to have just a sidelight on, haven't looked yet to see if there actually is a sidelight bulb in the H/L unit. Thanks to all for the comments & help. Conrad Just found out the tax was last due in 1985 so I would assume it's not been on the road in 20 years. 44
