Mike,  what do you mean?
The points cam fits over the advance retard mech.  The bob weights fit into a slot either side of the cam.
When the engine is revved, the bob weights expand and the lugs on the weights rotate the cam slightly.
It's possible to fit this cam backwards, which leads to a lot of head scratching.

Check the points cam isn't on backwards (180 out of phase)  done that once.

What do you mean by a washer on the cam?  The two bolts that hold the gear onto the camshaft don't have washers,  if they're there then somebody non-Japanese has put them there

If you go on this link you can download a parts list.  Using the parts numbers will make ordering from DSS and searching for parts easier.

BTW.  I've just looked at the parts list and it doesn't seem to be listed.

I've had my candy antares red F2 since the 80s.  It goes to shows, rideouts,  camping trips and it's even won me a cup for best jap at a VMCC event.  They're pretty much trouble free providing you don't skimp on the oil and filter changes.

It looks like a good technique.   My first problem is getting the airlock out of the master cylinder in the first place.  I'll use a peristaltic pump (I've got loads in the van) to pump fluid upwards, then I'll do the cable tie on the lever overnight to shift the last of the air.
Thanks for your suggestions.

It's the front one.  I'll try forcing brake fluid up from the bleed nipple to purge the air out.  The air lock theory sounds likely.   Thanks guys.

I'm trying to sort out the brakes on a 650 Katana.   The calipers are all sorted but I can't get it to bleed..  Pumping the lever does nothing.
I slackened off the master cylinder banjo, pumped away...nothing.
I fitted a brake repair kit, checked the bore is OK,  made sure the wee holes aren't blocked and it still doesn't pump fluid.
I must be missing something,  but what?
Cheesed off and left the shed to the penguins.

Good man.  Proper job with the ring soldered on.  It's the only way to go with 40 year old electrics.

The relay relies on the current flow to discharge the internal capacitor to get it flashing at the correct rate.  If you've got a bad earth,  that will cause this fault just like an open circuit bulb causes it to not flash.
I've threaded an extra lead from right next to the bulb, through to to the loom itself to overcome any resistance.

It's german for meeting or rally or something.   It's what foreign bikers do; ie. Camping a la motorbike, beer, loud music, campfires,  beer, a rideout,  beer and um....  Beer.  You get the general idea.

Last year, there was anice SOHC4 treffen in Holland.   I couldn't get to it but I'd like to go to this year's event.
Does anybody know anything about it?
