Title: it works!
Post by: florence on April 14, 2014, 03:10:15 PM
15 months under a tarp in the garden; oil change plus filter, fresh fuel, drained carbs, charged battery, started third kick, it even ticks over by itself.  Must be a Honda.

New chain and sprocket set, headlamp, rear tyre and brake shoes.  I just need to put some filler in the front mudguard, a new hole has appeared but the rest is still solid.  Scrub that, gaffa tape will do for now.

I just need to bleed the front brake, rub over with an oily cloth and should be ready for MOT.

Glad its going back on the road, are you sure the wipe with the oily cloth is really  necessary? don't want to shock it too much!!

My brother did that years ago to my dads Triumph Trophy  ::) it sent the cover rock hard.
I used it the other day and it's still as slippery as hell I nearly slid of the side so I roughed it up with sandpaper. :)

I'll never forget doing my seat with Mr. Sheen.  ::)

it does need oil in some parts, paint falling off, angry rust appearing, but great to have it going again.  Brakes working now which is a bonus.  I think I'll record the sound of it running and share the file, I had forgotten how fab it sounds with that Laser pipe.

Plan to put the bike in my next 'pop video'. ;D

Hi Florence,

I Like em used.

Well done.

Duck oiled a seat once had a girl on the back one minute, gone the next.

That was the end of that relationship.

yes, I would agree with that.  I took it for a test ride and the front brake is dragging slightly.  A bit annoying because MOT chap won't like it.  I should have checked all this before I bled the brakes but I was too excited about being so near to riding it.  Looks like I'll have to redo.  What I don't know is whether it will just free itself up with use?  It's twenty miles to the MOT place......

Better to clean up and fix now then have to make 2 trips to mot place. WD40 and a bit of freeing off for 20 minutes will genrally get it ok for a short time, but a full strip and clean then re assemble with grease in pivots will give a better result I would think.

took off the offending part and it looked like it had been at the bottom of the ocean for several decades, now soaking in plus gas.
