Title: Under tank wiring
Post by: CornerstoneCB on March 27, 2020, 12:24:37 PM
Hi all,

Having some problems getting the fuel tank back on without disturbing wiring. I have checked my connections and remade some that were weak / worn. There does seem to be an abundance of wiring next to the left hand ignition coil that makes it very tight under the tank. Has anyone got any pictures of their loom in this area so i can see if it is appropriately routed or any other useful advice?

Thanks in advance,

Hope these help - they are of my 11/70 K1 survivor, so how the factory fitted it.

Cheers, Andrew

Thanks andrew.

Thats helpful. Can i ask, do the cables sit tucked in under the tank when its on or do they sit visibly under the base of the tank if you get my meaning?

Thanks again

These (pre-clean up) photos shows the large loom that goes to the headlight bowel and the small front brake light loom sit on top of the ignition switch bracket and are only visible where the loom(s) exit the tank at the headstock.

Edit: just noticed you have a 78 F1, not sure how different the loom is, but hope the photos help?

Cheers,
Andrew

Didn’t the F1 have a junction box under the headlamp?

Yes it did, here is mine as I was putting it back together, this was the first photo that I could find I may have more if you want me to dig them out.

Here's one before I fitted the junction box.

Thanks all.

This was the condition i found mine in. Looks like it has been played with over the years and is now a bit tatty to say the least. I might be better off redoing it completely.

Thanks again for the help
