Would anyone have a car paint code close to the Honda Cb500 KO Jade Green ?
-
There isnt one as its a 3 pack candy
-
You could ask Menno. He might know of a close(ish) match.

They say they don't supply it outside EU, but I've seen it on ebay.

Pretty obvious, but RS paints? And don’t forget the black?

R.S. Bikepaints do do the Jade(Jet :D) Green but it's a candy 3-part system not metallic. (bluey metallic base-coat and a weird when you see it in the container browny looking candy coat)
-
That’s interesting. I believe the 500 Jade Green I have must have been done with that as there is, in a certain light, a brownish tinge to the green.
Unfortunately you cant see it in this photo, but as you say it definitely is there.
No PCR results as yet but my mate has just been tested +. Misery…..
-
I lied, you can just make it out.
-
It's quite a cool effect in paint isn't it.
A bit like the optical coating on camera lenses that don't impeed colour when you look through them, but looking obliquely across the surface then the coating colour becomes more prominent.
Clever in that if gives a modelling and 3rd dimensional effect on tanks etc with the curves accentuated in different lighting and viewing angle.
-
I know, reckless. Two indicator stubs to weld on then they are off for chrome.
-
I remember when Menno did my K0 green paint that the base-coat was a blueish metallic. You see USA import bikes with badly sun faded green tanks and they fade to brown on the top .. No Visage comments please ;D
-
Nope, welded.I have 4 sets, two of which are NOS from DS America. Deffo not screwed on.
I’ll take a photo, but currently bed bound with what may or may not be COVID….awaiting results.
-
Hi, Ken. I’m referring to the Stubs on the ears that the indicators fit on to.
-
Incidentally, it’s from Germany I can’t afford it.
;)
-
There were a number of variations of ear on the 550s with welded on threaded section for then screwing on indicator extension stubs. This was done prior to chroming, obviously new parts don't need welding.
There were male and female thread versions over the models. The only model AFAIK that had the a longer welded stub and indicators mounted directly on the ear without an screw on extension stub was the later 550K3s and I think maybe only the US versions in any number.
And of course early US 550s had the indicators mounted on the ear portion itself as in the 500 shown.
The green is growing on me and wonder if it was UK available in 1974 whether I would have chosen it.
Apologies to Mart for the thread hack.
-
Hi, the one shown is for 1977 F2. And yes, apologies for straying of topic.
-
Hi, Ken.
Yes, totally correct. Iv’e got a set of them too…i must have a headlamp ear obsession.
-

Soz, I forgot Ken ;D
A pair of ears, I've had it with ebay and Hermes can get stuffed as well, they've been nothing but hassle getting that replacement frame down to me from my nephew after he collected it from Phil a while ago. Its been lost for 10 days but after a seriouse hissy fit at them on the phone this morning I had some info and I've located it in a petrol station 'drop off' point in Barnsley of all places after it was dropped at the depot by my nephew in Wakefirld! WTAF????? >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
where it stayed at the back of the shop because somebody said it was too heavy to lift and pulled the H&S card so left it on the shelf. Even though it's within their 15kg limit and it has already gone from Wake'y to Barnsley. And it was paid for, insured, next day..........that was two weeks ago!
Sorry rant over. .........Basically if I can source most of what I need on here then I will because I'm sick of getting hidden charges or just simply f*ckwittery thrown in at the last minute or by UK customs Border Nazi's taking the piss. There seems to be a weekday rule and a friday afternoon rule where they just think of a number and stick it on as an invoice but don't tell you until they've had it for a week or two and then try the storage charge number on you......"Nope, send it back then" has been the reply on several occasions and they do or simply deliver it anyway. I'm on a 70-30% success rate but if you need it, you need it so have to cough up. In short, if I can benefit somebody on here I'd rather do that and buy their parts, I'm better off, they reduce their shiney pile to allow for more hoarding room and all the folk on here aren't a bunch of swines happy to milk you dry!
I hope ;) ;D

Oooh, I love a good rant. I had my daily Christmas Season bust up with Hermes this morning.
A forum member purchased something from me, I sent it 10 days ago and poof, it's disappeared into thin air last Wednesday. I'm in regular contact with the forum member and he is totally understanding about it, although I find the whole episode totally embarrassing. Luckily, it's a stock new part I sell, so I can send another if needed.
I must admit, 99%+ of the items I send with Herpes get to the destination with no problem, its just the odd one that goes AWOL and I get very, very angry with Hermes about their shoddy business ethics. That's my rant over for this evening 😁😁😁😁
Sorry for hijacking the thread
-
FM. I enjoy a good rant…keep em coming.
Sorry to hear about your maladies with frame.
-
LMAO, after that rant I'm still none the wiser. I knew you meant a pair of fork ears but for what bike, that's what I meant.
Sorry, havingabrant The cb550 F2 Ive still not started Ken.

Genuine in good condition F2 ears are really hard to source. There is a pair for sale on Ebay in Germany, around £120 for a pair IIRC. I have a couple NOS, and a couple of decent second hand ones, TBH I'm not sure which I'm going to use on my bike, I had one rechromed recently and the chromer made more of a mess than it was before, I only asked for it top have the chrome removed but they must have misheard my instructions, when it came back it was all scratched on the back of the tube, the chromes decent but I can't have that on my bike, must look again and see what it looks like.
It's not only the ears it's the indicator stems as well, also rare as hens teeth. You need both to use them properly.
There's these on there too but not at that postage and especially when they fleece you on the way in as theyre new to me. They dont seem to care of the condition now, you get charged for the lot by the customs thiefs.

Bought something on ebay recently from the US and was surprised that the ebay displayed price included VAT. So when I clicked through to pay it was $115 + $27 post + $28.40VAT. All paid and delivered to the door.
I thought the under £135 was EU-UK but applies elsewhere so the price on ebay will include VAT under (£135).
Also it's useful to search other ebay sites .com etc as many do show prices for UK delivery, but for whatever reason do not appear when you search .UK
