Hi all, I got my tool tray net, part number 83502-323-000 today, thanks Mike. I find that the mesh sits on top of the airbox lid venturi sticky up thing when it's installed, is this correct? It doesn't go all of the way down to the lip, which indicates that something may be wrong. Is this normal?
-
Sye, have you got a pic of how your is sitting?
-
Can post one tomorrow Julie but it basically sits on top of the intake before it sits on the top of the tray.
-
There’s a recess in the rubber that the grill mesh fits into.
-
Yep, when mesh is in the groove it sits on top of the air intake without the sides touching the tray. Possible causes could be, sides too short, airbox too high or lid not sitting correctly.
-
Pictures now taken. The first one shows the airbox lid, the second the tray in position and the last one shows that the cover can't be pushed down to sit on the tray. Does this look right or can anyone spot something I've missed?
TIA

May have just worked this out. The parts list shows the airbox lid as not for UK bikes. If that's right, is there no lid, just the tray and mesh?
-
UK bikes don't have that sticky uppy scoopy bit Sye. I will post a pic in a minute

that looks like a european type, might be worth getting a uk tray then all will fit properly. also the jetting was different for some countries so may cause running issues.

It is a UK tray Mick, I suspect that the previous owner couldn't get the cover and changed to the scoopy sticky up lid. Removed lid and all fits fine now. Happy bunny, thanks.

Actually it is quite simple: the models CB500 that have the intake noise reducer, DUCT ASSY,. AIR CLEANER in Hondaspeak, also run the #78 main jets, the models that have the mesh net, will need #100 main jets. I did some research on it. Most probably it goes back to regulations Germany had on intake noise. In countries that had the same quality of gasoline, like Switzerland, Austria, Holland and Italy you'll find the CB500 equipped likewise.

Gerben rebuilt the carbs so I have no idea what's fitted. That probably means I need to take a bowl off and find out what size the mains are. It could be that the carbs have been replaced at some stage with #78 mains in and the scoopy lid was added. Can't take a chance, so will take a look and fit the correct cover for the mains, I think? Thanks for the info.
