Every time (well, twice in a row) I try to bib my hooter the main fuse blows. :o I can't say I've looked too hard yet, but has anyone else had this, or any ideas?

Any noise from the horn?
I would suggest you disconnect the wires from the horn,
Try a test bulb/lead,check the power lead to earth,
Connect the bulb between the 2 connectors, does the bulb light when you press the horn button?

Maybe you could keep it as such and have an extra emergency off switch. Just need to holler whenever you need to.
No?
Ah well. Maybe your horn is just shorted out and needs replacement.

Certainly car horns can short out & blow a fuse.

Is it the standard horn fitted? Some time back I fitted a pair of Fiamm type horns which really are effective, but the load was too much using the standard wiring, so I had to fit a relay. By all means check your current wiring and connections/earths, but if you get a chance, also look at the multi connector fitted behind the fuse holder. On mine, the internal blade connectors had all turned green and the main fuse was unable to cope with the extra load of pulling enough current through for high amp items.

“Horn of death” was that John Bindon or John Holmes’s?

Damn…wrong forum again.

It turned out to be a barred wire probably touching the frame, insulating tape for now, horn works without gazunking the electrics now! ;D
