Hi all.
Just bought a cb650 1981 in bits with no carbs. Seems like originals are hard to find and not the best anyway. Does anyone know what others fit. I've read that GPZ600 carbs fit, but all the ones i've looked at are spaced differently to my cb650. Ideas anyone ? Many thanks.

There are two totally different sets of carbs fitted to the 650, doues the head have bolt on manifolds or cast in stubs?

They're cast stubs

Just sent a genuine Honda workshop manual to Ash the other day. All it really had in it was carbs and how to disassemble and assemble them, 650C IIRC. He'll put it on the site shortly, might be useful for you. Also had wiring diagrams in but not much else. Probably some sort of appendum for the main manual.

Are the standard carbs CV carbs ?

79 and 80 Keihin PD50
81 on Keihin VB44A (CV carbs)
VB44 will not fit the earlier head as the spacing is different. I found this out to my cost >:(

Check out www.murrayscarbs.com they have a kit that fits 2 Mikuni VM34’s with manifold adaptors straight on to a 650 head. All jetted and ready to go.
Expensive but they are supposed to be very good, there are some YouTube videos where they’ve been fitted to a 550 with very good results.

I may be interested in the carbs, so long as the spacing is correct, is it a cast stub head on the intake side ?

This is a pic of my VB44A 's which are for the later 650's.

Yes Davefirestorm. Do the slides slide and the butterfly's butterfly ;). Would you want to sell them ?
