Title: Neutral switch wire
Post by: taysidedragon on February 22, 2014, 01:44:36 PM
Working on the engine yesterday I broke the wire that connects to the neutral switch. The original wires are brittle and need changing.

The problem I have is seeing how the wire fixes to the switch. There's a small metal post that sticks out with a small spring on it, but no obvious ring connector or spade.

Can anybody help please?

Hi,
If it is the same as I remember push the spring down and there should be a hole through it.Push wire in then release spring.
Job Done

Thanks. Cleaned it up, big bright light and found the hole.

The bit of wire that came out is soldered together on the end. Is that enough on it's own or does it loop round the post as well?

Seems a bit Heath Robinson for a Honda, why not a more secure connection?

Just poke it in straight, there's no tension / pull on the lead & the spring should hold it in place. If you loop it around it'll be harder to remove down the track, and ultimately will fatigue the solder, shortening the wire. (assuming folk keep bending it)

And 100% agreed! very Heath-Robinson for Honda, but guess they just bought the part in.
Doesn't need to be especially secure as very low current, and if it falls out no short will result. (rather a permanently ON neutral lamp)
