Title: Hello
Post by: AndyD on March 05, 2014, 06:56:03 AM
Hi all - just joined the forum after searching the web for info on the 400/4.
Bought a basket case - I really should know better but it came with another bike and was of course too good a deal to miss!!
In the process of assessing condition and if / how to go about restoring the poor old girl so will be in need of sound advice (counselling?) and this forum looks like the place to be.
Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy,

Two great moves... buying a 400F & joining this forum - you won't be disappointed. The sheer volume of technical help, experience & where to best source parts etc will make the restoration a pleasure.

Just finished my 400F last Dec, and pictured here with 'tom400's all original machine.

Good luck,
Simon

Welcome to the world of the SOHC UK. There is a lot of boy's and girl's on here that were in the same shoes as you. So, they now know the 400/4 inside out. Enjoy.

Welcome to the forum.
There seems to be a bit of CB resurgence lately.

Nowt wrong with buying a baskett case, my first 2 bikes of over 125cc were sohc basket cases, they taught me a lot that has saved me £££ in garage bills over the years. As I don't restore, but rather re commission on a budgett it doesn't cost a great deal - chrome is where you'll start spending, that and serious engine work - I tend to just swap power plants for good used. This forum is a great place to learn and get help - worth having a sohc bike just to be involved.

Agreed
Chrome and engine work now can be mega bucks
Good luck

Thanks all - good to hear no one questioning my sanity so far!
Off for a couple of days to Wales then back to start looking at the 400 motor so expect a few posts full of questions.
Cheers
Andy

Welcome to the forum (more like an owners club actually)
I've just finished a small project bike mod and really enjoyed the process.
Gave the finished bike to my son who wanted it in preference to his nearly new CB125R.
Anyway, I wanted next project to have more power so I got a CB400F.
Trouble is, it was as cheap as a project bike but is actually almost fully restored so I've got nowt to do other than polish stuff and ride it  ;D
I'm sure you'll enjoy the process as much as the end result.
