CB500/550 / Re: CB550K1 - rear shocks replacement - actual options?

TEC UK is based not far from me & has stated they cannot get the remote reservoir rears for 550 fours. They are available from US  TEC - seems like a franchise. US TEC will not sell to UK tho. You might be OK in Eastern Europe.

CB500/550 / Re: Koni shocks - rebuild info
« on: April 07, 2024, 01:42:39 PM »
Tried to rebuild a pair of 1979 - 76k 1302 with the assistance of Geoff at IKON Australia. A lot of the “new” internals will not fit especially seals, gland nuts etc - access to a machine shop is essential if using original piston rod. The thread in your aluminium body maybe @ 1mm smaller diameter than the new gland nut - although the pitch is same - but a good m/c shop should be able to help. Alternative rod seals are available - but again may have to m/c new IKON nut inner housing to accept rod seal. If you can keep original piston & rebound assembly then it should be OK. A lot of extra hassle (& expense) - otherwise you are looking at new replacement shocks. I preferred the alumin. Original look so persevered with my employers tool room. I think the original Dutch Koni bike suspension was based on old imperial sizes - not metric - IKON stuff seems metric.

My same model, colour etc in 1979 had same front mudguard & plate. Buy it as it will only go one way.

Does any one know if 750 F2 - the ones with super sport underneath & @ 112-115mm between pins - fit 550F2 fuel tank? in need of right hand side badge - 750F2 price for a pair is a lot cheaper than RH 550!

Here here - I would think lots of demand if the price was similar to CB400 & 750.
