It's a bit late for the party but, mine had corroded off, got a piece of copper tubing, crimped it together in vice and soldered it then filed it to shape and redrilled hole, perfect.

Yes it's the X4 CB1300, import only, I had the pipes altered to take the ART cans, it's the one bike I have always regretted selling and to make matters worse the are becoming sort after, still it was quick on acceleration and manageable, unlike the V-Max I once owned.

This is a bike I wish I had kept,

Before Covid struck, we were in Whitby for the day and I won't que for nowt, but walking past the Magpie at dinner time we noticed no one stood outside, so we shot in to see what all the fuss was about, it's fair to say I'm glad I didn't que because I wasn't impressed, it was nothing special and thought I'd had better at Cleethorpes.

I watched a video of how simple it was to remove and install the 400 engine laying the bike on it's side, after I'd laid it down on my own I had a DEVIL of a job as I had left the H/T coils on and hadn't removed the breather cover, it was a nightmare but got it out with a struggle. Didn't make the same mistake on rebuild and I didn't lay it down either, I wrapped Carling card around the frame so not the chip the paint, got a box the same height as frame and stood the engine on it and slide it across bit by bit on my own, with a bit of lifting.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please I need a couple of these I think they are 3.5 mm size 4 way connector?
I do not want to cut the ones off my old loom as it might be of use to someone else when I have a clear out.

I had the  same problem Ted, they are impossible to track down, I even tried a breakers yard to look at old looms but no body does them now they do multi block, I didn't want to use a block connecter on the 1 into 4 earth connecter so I had to solder 2 doubles together to ,get the same result/quote]

It's a personal choice really, I went for the black and silver.

Same as the 500/550/750 I believe Ted.

It's a 34x48x7 and here is where I bought mine from. It's also a double lip seal.

Thanks Ken I've ordered one.

Updated 2/12/21:-
Seal has arrived - despite the cold weather - I fitted it this afternoon - now waiting for the large "O" ring and small cable end seal so I can assemble the whole axle,  fit the brake disc and get the wheel in place before the ice age sets in.

PS I Googled  Four Feathers Falls - I remeber the cartoon but not the name.

My first thoughts when I saw the missing nipple was, not a problem drill out the old one best I can, stud extractor to remove what was let, not a problem, recut the threads, how wrong I was.

Well done .. always satisfying when you get those apart.

wildtapholer ... we know where your name on here come from  ;D
You've worked on a blastfurnace then.

You were lucky, when I bought my 400 I never noticed the bleed nipple was missing off the front brake, on strip down had to bite the bullet and get a new caliper as someone had filled the threaded part where the bleed nipple went with liquid metal. I tried to clear it all out but it was too far down into the fluid ways, how they bleed the brakes I have no idea. My first thoughts when I saw the missing nipple was, not a problem drill out the old one best I can, stud extractor to remove what was let, not a problem, recut the threads, how wrong I was.

CB350/400 / Re: Seat strap chrome fastner ends 400/4
« on: November 26, 2021, 11:55:33 AM »
With my seat, the cover was torn, the strap was broken all the cover fasteners were rusty, when I removed the cover the base was very rusty and after a proper clean found it to be cracked in a few places plus it had been repaired in the past, I just bought a new seat in the finish from D/S it worked out cheaper, only problem is, I haven't been out on it yet but it feels very firm under my old backside, funny in it's day I always found this type of seat comfy. Maybe if used it might get softer hopefully but it will have to be next year now I think.

I've been following your conversion have have been quite impressed at your skill set, but sorry Al you are chancing your arm a bit at £170, when you have it up for sale at buy it now price of £70 on ebay, did you miss the 1 off.

I got an mint rear mudguard and it came with the plastic part which I didn't need all for £68 from America and that was including import duties, it was the correct one with the 4 holes, I had to do a lot of searching but they come up now and again, totally transforms the rear end.
If you could let me know where you got it from that would be great. I have found one at Bertrums, out of stock for £330. Then one in the USA for $49.66 delivered free to UK. If it looks too good to be true, it probably is, springs to mind:

It was a breaker in America selling on ebay, his user name is,     bwd81

Nice rear fender you have there - what's with the chain guard - not chromed - is it a fully painted one ?

P.S. I've drilled out my mount and it fits a treat except I have no third collar insert - they seem to be unavailable.
Ted, Graham may have a spare insert, I'll ask him later.

Thanks NJ it would stop it crushing the rubber - I don't have any small tubing I can cut down - not even in plastic. Ted
I got these off ebay and cut the spacers down if they were too long.
