I have 2 CB 450s that I am registering, one didn't have a title so I got a dating certificate whereas the other had the title etc .I sent of 2 lots of applications and last week had an inspection for the non titled bike which I expected & today I get another email saying the one with the title needs an inspection as well. What is the point of having a title if the DVLA ignore what its for . Rant over
-
The title is only a proof of year of build as US title is build year NOT registration year.
Inspection seems to be a lottery, not sure if you should go buy a ticket ot not!
-
I've only registered twice, and both times I had a title but no dating certificate. No inspection for me so far, seems I've been lucky!
-
In my head the DVLA I suspect have a percentage performance target to meet in terms of Inspections so its very much a postcode /chance lottery.
-
What is it that they are actually inspecting, the bike or it's documentation?
-
The bike to make sure the numbers match the paperwork
-
3 out of the last 4 bikes have been inspected !!!
-
They also check to ensure that bike is what it is claimed to be and “substantially “ complete. If it looks like a cobbled together heap with few original parts they will refuse certification….at least that’s what the bloke stated when he came to view mine.

Just sent one off today, no title, plenty of pics, let you know how it goes.

Good luck🤞

Your luck worked. All back, new V5C in three weeks.

As i am not a yank and do not deal in bikes from the USA. What is the difference between a title and a pink slip in the states ?

Dont know hat one Graham, i think maybe time and different states as they dont have a national register, but i will ask a mate in nasville for you.
