CB350/400 / Re: The engine's back in the frame but...« on: November 22, 2014, 05:52:06 PM »Dont recall any washers on the inside they are all under the nuts on the outside Oh yes, I can see them now. I was looking for a washer on the inside of the frame but it makes sense to have spring washers on the outside. I learn a little bit more every day 7818

Iv'e just looked in workshop manual and it says the hanger bolts at front lower crankcase have spring washers inserted, but I cant really understand the picture in the manual to see if they are on the outside or inside of the frame, inside i guess

I got the bushes for my 400 from Frank about 4 weeks ago. Fitted them the other day, seem to be a good fit and the delivery was super fast

So it's a toss up between slightly better braking and slightly more wear on the disc. Maybe I should just go for 'normal' and see if they feel any better now the caliper has been services. Thanks for your advise.

Welcome Chris.
We must be of a similar vintage !!!. I did have a 400/4 in the late 70's and then went through god knows how many different bikes over the past 35 years. Now back down to a 400 again, they say what goes around comes around. The chaps on here are great, really helpful (although a bit PMT / male menopausal at times ) and their knowledge on these old Honda's is fantastic. Great to see another 400 owner on here. Regards Julie PS.....Keep your eyes off my crash bars 7823

Hi Chaps
Has anyone who has fitted sintered front pads noticed much difference? Have overhauled the front calliper which really needed doing so I'm sure the breaking will feel a bit better anyway but not sure if I should fit standard pads or sintered. Ta Julie 7824

Maybe we could all buy a nut and bolt each as an investment !!!. I'm sure if I hang on to my 400 for long enough it will be worth a million, at least

Nothing specific for strange threads Drew, like most carpenters, mechanics, bodgers etc we just make a bigger hole with a tap and die and put a bigger screw or bolt in it to hold it together and if in doubt put a bit of bone cement in it. I have a couple of dodgy bolts on my 400 where the heads have sheared off so I'm sure i will end up with threads not known to the engineering world !!!
