Title: CRICH CLASSIC BIKE DAY 2020
Post by: Nurse Julie on January 08, 2020, 07:42:12 PM
Just to let peeps know that the Classic Bike day is on Sunday July 5th 2020.
Registration for exhibiters is open now and the form for entry is on the page (I will try and add a link but.... don't hold your breath 🙄🙄🙄)
Tim, Rozerbikes, usually let's us know about the date etc but, as I have just seen it, I thought I would be helpful 😁😁😁

Download the link at the bottom of this post and if you're lucky, that will be the registration form.
And here is the link to the general bumff

Yes Tim, we will be there. Same old problem though, we don't know which bikes we will be taking, so its pot luck with the Registration Numbers and bike details on the entry form  ::) ::) ::)

Bloody Wife's family!

If one of them's not threatening to peg it (last year) then another one's getting married (this year). As soon as we know the 2021 date I'm going to buy them a calendar with a big ring around the date.

Won't be attending Crich this year due to a clash of dates. We're booked on the Heysham ferry to the Isle of Man Southern 100 on the same day. Alan who I normally go with will be attending with the Mrs instead.

Just to be clear....I plan on going to Crich with MY Missus this july....not Roy's Missus ! I stopped messing around with other blokes Missusses when I ceased to be a very fast sprinter - many years ago.........and I can say quite sincerely that ALL the troubles that have come my way in life have all been because of my interest in other blokes Missusses !

One good thing about being interested in old cars, boats, aircraft or motorbikes is that when a bloke (or Girl) has such a Toy, they then have little time, money, inclination or stamina for extra marital thingies !

On a happier note....can anyone recommend anywhere to stay within 20/30 miles of Crich.....nice quiet Hotel/ Guest House/ B & B as we'd like to spend a couple of days in the area when we visit in July.

Cheers.

No 15👍👍

Will there be a SOHC area designated as last year I couldn’t get to it as the jobsworths said it was full?

I did email the website asking this,
received a reply stating they intended to group same makes together,

perhaps we should write on the entry form ,member of SOHC Honda forum (club)

those that have already received conformation could email a request /suggestion that like bikes be placed together

Hi All
I am helping Tim (Rozabikes) by taking on the role of main contact between our Forum and the Organisers of the Classic Bike Day, Jon Lambley of the Vincent HRD owners club and the relevant person at Crich Tramway Museum.
I expect my role to be very minimal and more of a contact and go between than anything else. I will post any correspondence I have from them on here, so we all know what is happening. I have just received an email, which I will add after this post. The only thing Jon Lambley has asked me for so far, is the approximate number of bikes us as a group will be entering, so I will get back to him with a guesstimate on that.
Any probs / issues / concerns just put a post on here so we can all see it. Ta.

Email from the main man 😁😁😁

First of all, many thanks to all of you that attend our event and have made the 'Classic Motorcycle Day' the success it has been, so far. The 'Vincent HRD Owners Club' and 'Crich Tramway Village' team are working hard to make it another great day in 2020 and our priority is for everyone to have a good time and of course raise funds for the Tramway museum.
The event remains free to all exhibitors, as it should be and we don't intend to change the format of the event much as it seems to work fine. We will tweak things and take on board any recommendations or advice to improve the event. There will be a live band again and we have requested a fly past by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, hoping it doesn't break down this year. We are also increasing catering in the event and increasing the car parking staff.
As per last year you will be notified where your club/group will be exhibited but each year we move the clubs around, so please don't expect to be in the same place as previous years. The race bikes however, will be outside the depot again and there will again be an area for pre-war machines, which seemed to go down well.
We are running a public vote for the 'Best in Show' award again as it seems a good way to decide the winner but we need you to encourage all your members to vote on the day. It's worth noting that a machine doesn't need many votes to win 'Best in Show' and I think last year the winning machine got around 40 votes.
Attached is a flyer for the event, the entry form and T&C's, which you can copy, print and circulate among your clubs and friends.
Please be aware that on the entry form, you can order as many additional reduced price tickets as you like, for friends/family and club members coming by car.
Regards
Jon Lambley
The Vincent HRD Owners Club (East Midlands Section)

I'm sure nobody will bother about a lone biker riding country lanes. Safe distancing gone mad. Just don't stop for a brew and keep you helmet on.

You can ride the bike if you are going for essentials and nobody specified which shop or route.
My stepson got the nhs txt telling him to hide in his bedroom for 12 weeks, i have to go out for my monthly meds and my wifes now

Same round here now John, things have moved on since the 24th March. I'm just shuttling bikes around between home and my lockup about half a mile away, that's the only ride I can manage now. Plod just handed out hefty fines to two bikers on a local stretch of the A6 saying they were warned yesterday but won't learn the lesson. Plod said they were using the now empty roads as a racetrack.

I have just received an email from the organiser of this event.
I have copied it FYI.

Dear all,
I hope everyone is safe and well.
As you know Covid-19 has caused havoc to our health and events nationwide but despite the odds being stacked against us, I remain hopeful for the CMD and our sanity.
We are getting closer to the end of this essential lockdown in the UK and hopefully the government will soon start to open up the country.
Putting politics to one side, I trust the government to do the right thing at the right time.
Although social gatherings are currently frowned upon, ours event is an open air event, so there is a slim chance it could be allowed. I remain optimistic but I am also realistic.
As soon as the Tramway Village make a decision about this years Classic Motorcycle Day, I will inform you as soon as we know.
Financially the Tramway, like everyone else, will be taking a big hit, but lets hope it all ends soon
Speak soon and keep everything crossed folks

Ramsey Sprint is also cancelled .. my mate always sprints his CB500K1 every year so he's gutted. It's an ex-DK 3k miler

James H if you read this the drilled front disc is from the 500K0 I got from you ... we did a swap. The rider is my mates mate Bob who at one time owned the 1st official UK CB750 (now owned by a member on here) .. he bought it as a ride-to-work hack when his Commando was bust in the 80's IIRC.
