Hi All
Fairly new to this however here goes, just had my engine cases etc. stripped and would like to know what the correct colour is to respray them. I also read recently that the cases were originally sprayed with a finish coat directly onto the bare ally, can any confirm.

I don't know what the factory used, but I learned the hard way that on no account do you want to get paint on the faces that house the bearings.
My K1 had been restored inside and out, but had silver paint where there should have been clearances, causing the bottom end to eat itself. Luckily this forum was here to sort me out. :)

I believe that this is a recommended paint to do the crankcases with

They have to be squeaky clean before any paint, many links on here but, here is one >>>http://www.sohc.co.uk/index.php/topic,10783.msg78757.html#msg78757

Original colour was Honda Cloud Silver I believe. It is available from RS paints, but don't know anyone who has used it.
I used Simoniz matt aluminium rattle can, but it is a little brighter than original.

Hi All
Thanks for the info, it seems like the biggest problem is getting them clean enough to respray. I had them dipped however I will go over them by hand myself, then try some of the cleaning techniques Trigger uses, one other question if anyone is still following this link is the lower case has a very rough finish to the casting should I file or grind this down or leave as is.
