Title: Keihin 627B identifying unknown part
Post by: AndyH on October 07, 2017, 10:45:41 AM
I've removed the carbs from my 500K1 in preparation for a full refurb.

Before I de-rack them, can someone in the know please tell me the purpose of the highlighted part in the attached pic.
They appear to be very brittle on my set of carbs, and one of them is completely broken in half!
A check on the CMSNL parts list doesn't identify it individually.
TIA

Andy

I think they are just dust seals to keep the crap out of the mechanism.

You shouldn't IMO. The parts that seem 'broken in half' are not by any chance the two black graphite looking cuplike parts around the bullet joint?

I think you're right Mick!  When new, they were probably soft and pliable rubber.  45 years on, they're now hard and brittle and crumbling into oblivion!
