Hi all, after some help.
The gear lever pivot that locates to the shaft on the left footpeg mount is worn. Inside the chrome gear lever its worn so I have quite a lot of play, the foot peg mount seems ok. I can find a new option with DS parts so wondered if any success as no doubt others have experienced this as it must be a common area for wear.
The lever is in excellent condition otherwise so I could get it machined and an insert made... but this cost my be greater than a new parts/
Any thoughts appreciated!

Not had to actually change any parts on the gear change but I would say any looseness or play needs attention of some sort. One problem that quite a few of us on here have experienced, including myself, is the circlip coming adrift and the mechanism falling off whilst riding. In my case half way round a tight bend when I needed another gear !!!. I just fitted a new circlip, I think Mike the Bike drilled a hole in the shaft and put a split pin or wire through it to stop it falling off again.

Yes thanks.. I want to remove all the play from the gear linkage as its crucial to my build and rider experience, I already have the split pin in the end as yes that would be awful mid corner!
It seems a new linkage is hard to get hold of, so it may be off to the machine shop!

had the local m/c shop fit a bush and reamed it to the shaft take the bracket with you also I fitted a grease nipple when I got it back not to dear.

Found a man with a machine shop at the bottom of his garden in the next village.. perfect. He is making me a brass bush and washer !

More effective than winding a load of tape around the shaft.
