Title: Removing the plastic rear mudguard/fender
Post by: Jan B on January 02, 2018, 02:17:43 PM
Almost entirely dismantled the frame. The only part that is bothering me is the rear plastic mudguard/fender. It is held in place by several tabs welded to the frame. The only way i see to remove the mudguard is to bend the tabs open. I don't like that because when the frame is finished with paint i am afraid that when i bend the tabs back the new paint will come off.

So any suggestions on how to proceed?

Cheers Jan

the plastic is normally flexible enough to bend out of the tabs. i took my 750 one out last night in the same way. i had to lever it a little as the tabs had rusted and bonded themselves onto the plastic.

The plastic is normaly tapered so sliding it UP/DOWN (can't remember) will allow it to be removed.

I managed to bend my mudguard out the other day but it certainly wasn’t easy.... i thought it was gonna break at one point...especially being so old and probably nowhere near as flexible as once was..... maybe a bit of careful hot-air gun treatment would have helped....
