Title: Home made paddock stand
Post by: florence on April 06, 2016, 11:40:20 AM
In the spirit of 'make do and mend' I have made my own stand for the bike to help me remove the front wheel using an old cheese grater and some elastic bands...

it starts in an upright position then using the long parts as a lever one can pull back towards the rear of the bike and elevate into position.

As the bike has no centre stand of it's own this device is an absolute boon.

That's more or less the way an Abba Stand works - but they cost £100 more...

Whoa, go back abit there Florence.

What size of cheese are you grating over there? Can't imagine the size of mousetrap that would go with it either, or the size of the mice  ;)

Looks good to lift the front of the bike though.

yeah, it used to be a home made rack mount for my recording studio before I had a re-fit.  It works a treat.

Next I'm going to turn it round and see if I can get the swingarm off.  Once I've done that it's off to the MOT place then I'll have two 70's rat bikes on the road.

How about a little bit of sizes so I can make one. I dumped the centre stand too.

I will measure it tomorrow and take further pictures.  I sort of made it by accident as it used to be something else.  I am sure it could be improved....details to follow...
