Only the pivot hole,

I took 0.5mm from both sides of the shoes

I found after market shoes are to wide at the pivot end,

I normally use a file to remove some alloy so the double washer and split pins fit,

Just care needed to get the shoes to fit square

A Dremel type tool is probably something I should have bought over a thirty tears  ago when I was doing all my home DIY.

For how much I would use one today I can't justify the outlay - a recommended cheapo might be an option.
I think mine costs about £12 with assorted tools,

I bought a rechargeable Chinese copy of dremel from Aliexpress,

Complete with tools,

Works great, for the amount I use it, can't fault it,

Oil, it should be lubed by the oil in the engine,

I use a HMP grease on the worm drive, because it gets very hot,

Also make sure the cable is smooth, some you can oil, some you can't

Does the carb have a brass drain screw?

I know the 500 does,

Would suggest you unscrew it, and see if fuel runs out

I do wonder though if I should warm it up to get any condensation out?
No,

Unless it gets to full working temperature, it's likely the moisture will turn acidic,

Ideally ride it for the minimum of 10miles,

Always get it hot,

Does anyone know if these fit a 1976 cb550 k?
I have got the hm323 pipes on and need a new set.
If you have the 323,

They will fit
