Title: Flooded Fens.

Took the little old girl out for a blast on the Fens today, this was at Welney, quite well flooded, as you can see i have put the 4 into 4 back on, the thinking is why should i save these for when i eventually sell for someone else to enjoy, i thought i would not pamper this motor anymore and ride it as it should be and give it the beans through the gears, took her up to about 80mph and using the full spread of each gear, low and behold not as much of a slouch as i thought she was and what a thoroughly great ride out, at just over 5k miles this bike is barely run in, dare i say i actually enjoy this bike more than my z1000 and i am a born Zed head. That's a very nice motorcycle. Great colour. Ride it like you stole it  :).

Your bike looks stunning Kevski. The flatlands of Lincolnshire are a bit soggy at the moment as well.

The camera makes the paint look really good, the top of the tank has faded to a light orange, there is other fading on all the coloured panels and the clocks are faded with shadows from the needles, just a great patina and that's how it is going to stay, mostly original with the exception of brake cylinders master and caliper and repro exhaust i presume, how would i be able to tell if they were originals? Definately a bit soggy just round the corner from this a Vauxhall Zafira had it's nose pointing up out of the ditch i thought it was a submarine surfacing at first.

It does look lovely and as you say, original patina should be left.  It was not possible with my own 350/4 to do anything other than a full rebuild.  I was fortunate to get new original pipes and silencers when DS had them (all except for no 2) so I bought an extra number 3 and cut it and rotated the silencer.  I won’t rub it in by saying that they were £75 per pipe 🙈.  Had to bung up the balance connection too but have now got a NOS number 2 but not fitted it yet.  The genuine ones have HM 333 stamped in plus other lettering I can’t remember without looking at mine next time.
There’s a section on my web site with some of the story, only wish I’d had the patience to record everything like Julie.
Even though I have 2 400/4s (plus too many others) I still prefer the four pipes, higher bars and 5 speed box of the 350.
