CB750 / PD Carb Serial numbers
« on: December 16, 2020, 08:51:02 PM »
I know people hate them .... however, PD Carb serial numbers usually start PD41 or 42 then either AA or BB, followed by two other letters and lastly a symbol which looks Japanese. Can anyone explain what these last 2 letters and symbol relate to. Also anyone know if as long as they all start the same, eg PD41BB, is there any issue with these last 3 digits not matching to make up a set. (I'm getting one of my headaches coming on again) :-\

CB750 / One for the Engine Tunners to ponder
« on: November 03, 2018, 05:31:15 PM »
In a moment of madness I have created a monster using an F2 motor with a K7 exhaust. So I ask myself, where should I start with the carbs. Should I start with F2 jetting due to the combustion chamber design. Or K7 due to the 4 into 4 exhaust design. I have to use PD carbs to keep in with the theme of the build so swapping for earlier types is not an option.
I need to rest now cos my headaches are starting again 🤔

CB750 / What's the long and short of this one.
« on: August 20, 2018, 08:50:43 PM »
I have a set of new exhaust studs to fit to my F2 motor. One end has a longer threaded section than the other. Can any one tell me which way round they are fitted.

CB750 / F2 Camshaft Towers
« on: February 03, 2018, 10:21:50 AM »
I am using an F2 top end on my latest. The head I have has 8 studs to support the camshaft towers. The parts lists show the usual mix of 4 studs and nuts and 4 bolts. Has any one any idea if this is a later factory change or is it something that has been modified by a previous owner. Any thoughts?

CB750 / Connecting rod, which way??
« on: January 01, 2018, 01:49:29 PM »
I'm doubting myself after looking at the parts lists. On the F2 parts the rod is shown with the bearing tabs to the front, ie exhaust side. www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb750f2-super-sport-england_model14689/partslist/E15.html#results
On the K2 list it is shown to the rear.  ww.cmsnl.com/honda-cb750k2-four-england_model14363/partslist/E17.html#results

I would appreciate any thoughts. I realise a parts list is no definitive but as I say it's thrown doubt upon what I thought was correct.

CB750 / F1 Primary Ratio
« on: September 19, 2017, 08:29:55 PM »
I have read a reference, in the book by Peter Shoemark, that the F1 had a different primary drive ratio to all the other models. Having compared part numbers between F1, F2 and K7 I can't see any differences that would allow this. Can anyone shed any light on this for me.

CB750 / Air box rubber gasket all twisted
« on: April 21, 2017, 05:14:46 PM »
I'm sorting out an air box for the F2 I'm on with. The rubber gasket has at some stage been put on and allowed to get twisted out of shape. Does any one know of a method of reforming it back to its original shape. I'm sure at some point I've heard or read something, (or was it a dream I had).

CB750 / Spacer on rear axle sprocket carrier... help please.
« on: March 03, 2017, 07:22:40 PM »
I'm building a bit of a bitsa to use up my stock of old parts. The plan is to use a rear wheel from a 750 K7. However the spacer on the bearing for the sprocket carrier (part no 42605-393-000) is missing. I have one from an F1 (part no 42605-300-000). I am assuming they will be different due to the different numbers. If any one is able to measure the diameter and length of the thick section of a K7 spacer could they let me know so I might be able to machine the one I have to fit. So if you happen to have one to hand please help me out it would be a great help.

CB750 / Mix n Match Top End
« on: November 30, 2016, 02:10:08 PM »
Here we go again.
I'm in the process of using up all my odd spares on a project and would value some opinions. The plan is based on a 76 F1 engine. Since the head and cylinder block both have extensive damage, and as F1 oversize pistons are rare, I am thinking of using the head and block from an earlier K model along with the flat top pistons. I can't say what year they are from but they do have the recesses for the dowels on the oil drain side on the block and also with the old style exhaust stubs still fitted to the exhaust ports on the head.
So what are your thoughts on using these?? Also can I use the F1 cam shaft on the earlier head set up or would I need an early K model cam.

Thanks for any thoughts or wisdom from your experiences.
