Yes, same mod that I did, as above I think it made it better but it’s easy to kid yourself with such things, and it’s 3 years ago so I can’t remember how bad it was before, I think the “they all do that sir” is the best philosophy with Honda first gear selection.

I did the clutch mod on mine, it still clunks into first, I’ve never seen one that doesn’t, it’s about 3 years ago that I did the mod but I seem to remember it was an improvement, if you really want to avoid the crunch buy a Carby 900ss, proper dry clutch set up on that , I can’t even tell it’s gone into first sometimes!

Ha, don’t you know I’m the oldest teenager in town Julie?.
But yes it’s stupidly fast, Monster 1200, it has the same standing quarter mile time as a Lamborghini Aventador, 10.6 seconds, that sort of puts it in perspective I think, in fact any reasonably minded person would probably say that this sort of machine should be illegal, luckily as you know, I’m completely unreasonable 🙂

Finally got the fuelling right, the 45 pilots turned out to be a little too rich, went back to 42.5’s but dropped the float heights by 1mm at the same time, now all is good, the biggest improvement I’ve made is with the Marzocchi front forks, I threw them away!, I’ve fitted a set of 3 way adjustable Showas (identical to the ones on my 900ss) and it has transformed the front end, now it’s really plush, no more tooth rattling over the bumps 🙂, turns in quicker as well, not sure if that’s because I’ve dropped them through the yokes a few mm more or because they are holding the road better, probably both, best £200 EBay purchase I’ve ever made, anyway one happy Monster rider.

Best to get it welded, not uncommon to have a fracture in that location, often caused by over tightening the plug.

Ha, yes I remember being pretty brutal getting the bronze bushes in on mine, the last couple of mm didn’t want to go but getting brutal fixed it 👍

Me too, I’ll probably never need one again but yes a good little unit, the dial control goes from 1 to 150w if that helps anybody.

Footnote;
The adjustable flasher just arrived, works well, thought I’d mention it in case anyone else has the same issue with non standard indicators/different bulb wattages, cheers Mark.

Bulbs are more than bright enough at 10w btw.

Morning all, apologies I got the wattage wrong, the bulbs are 10w, still not very high I know but they are actually quite bright somehow!, I fitted the Identical ones to my Scrambler and they are clearly visible even in strong sunlight, on my Scrambler I haven’t had to alter anything, being a modern bike it’s got some clever wizardry and strong white mans magic that adjusted to the lower wattage , someone on the Ducati forum fitted the unit above having had the same issue as me and it worked so I’m hopeful, got to be worth a punt for £4, thanks for the replies all much appreciated as always, cheers Mark.

Ha, yes the tail unit on the old monster is a huge great ugly thing combining the number plate holder indicators and mudguard, it had to go!, evidently this is what I need
