CB750 / Engine noise when on side stand
« on: July 19, 2015, 10:56:53 AM »
Hi all !! Its been a while since I posted / or more asked for some advice on here .

I hope some one can help me. with my issue ,

I have just finished my USA K6 Restoration , I did nearly all execpt open the lower end of the bike , Which I think I should have also done !! .I will post some pics later on.!!

MY Problem is that apart from the clutch rattle that these bikes make when idling I have a like a noise of a sort of gear noise when the bike is on the side stand. When then I put it straight this goes!!

Has anyone here ever experienced this? :-[ any ideas on what to look for ?

Thanks

Thanks for the info to all!!

All my reading from this site has been use full. I have been busy dismantling the whole bike !! .Quite a challenge but i have enjoying everybit !! I am very glad to find that the bike is all there and all parts are they left from the factory !!

Today I have taken the engine out and when I removed the chain I noticed that the sprocket seem to be loose, not so tight in place is this normal ? would it need replacing ? Any comments would be appreciated !!

Tonight I will start ordering parts hopefully. Will have to go from Germany cause of the high Euro to GBP rate !!

Cheers

I am aware of this but luckily the bike for some reason has a switch which is different , as it has the light switch incorporated with it . Might have  been changed at one time . I managed to find the switch from Yamiya will make a bigger order to get it with other stuff .

I also found the tread showing complete versions of the switches and how to work on them  which I will use to carry out repairs as it is very detailed and makes it look easy hopefully !!

Regards the clutch is there a special tool needed to dismatle ?

Hi Guys and Gals!,

Finally managed to get my freshly arrived Us bike !! After loads of Paper work (customs)!!

Obviously have to start fixing here and  there  until its all as I need it . will be keeping it as standard as possible with just a noisy 4 in to 1 in the future!!

First Item I noticed that I need taking care of are the clutch as it is not 100 % , Front Fork as it is not damping as it should and most important the start button is missing !!

Regarding clutch and front fork is this a home  job? I ve got loads of tools in the garage and I am good with hands on but the last Clutch I replaced was the one on My rd250 LC around 15 Years ago !! and I have never serviced a front fork before !Also Were is the best recommended place for the spares? and would also the plates need replacing ?

As for the starter button I have managed to source the button on a Us website but shipping was sky high !!Do you know of any other source in the EU?

Will update with pics as I need to resize them !

Cheers

That would be the best solution.
But to register the bike does it have to be running ? Can you register it without being good for the road ? Sort of like Sorn ?

I have relatives in the uk that would help, but they are not capable of fixing it up !

Hi All ,

Just needed to ask / more as a clarification when registering an Imported US bike in the UK As I am quite sure alot of you have been in this process?. Are you not required to have the Original American title of the bike ?

Hope fully I have my bike arriving this week  :) :) and I have the Title and Bill of sale to be able to register the bike already in my hands . When I asked the local authorities here in Malta they said not just the bill of sale is needed  but also the Title. Also on the title I have a red stamp that says   that the bike is exported .

At the moment I am interested in getting another bike a CB550 (already getting hooked !!  ;D ;D )and I have seen some bikes that DK has on auction on ebay and he allways states if he has or has not the title of the bike . he only states that VAT and tax has been paid and is registered on the NOVA system. I have even sent PM to them and they say its not available.

Basically after reading on internet the Title is like the Log book of the bike (v5 in the uk ?) . In US they seem to use a system were they dont have the title in hand and just issue a bill of sale . But clearly if you dont have the original Title the bike could still not be actually not yours and also on the title there are parts were there could be a possibility that a Lien is on the bike ( Lien is like a loan or other thing which the bike is used as a Guarantee ) I have attached a copy of mine which shows this

I am not trying to raise any alarms but how is the bike then checked for the verification especially without a title ? does the UK agency check this in some way ?  After registering the bike maybe ? Does any body have any experience in trying to get a title for a US bike ?

Cheers

The advantage of being in a small island, alot of people will know each other and nearly everyone will know each bike and its owner !! Then its easy to get together and of for a ride!!

Then the disadvantage would be we do not have much place were to go cause of our size!!

But at least the weather is nearly allways on our side !! 8) 8)
