I have changed the title - TBH I was more concerned about the main post phraseology, trying to reflect in a few words how Ken feels he  has been cut off after so many years of membership and contribution.

I do not want to antagonise our moderator or damage the reputation of this forum.

I am privileged to have Kens contact number as a lifeline. I recognise the sum of the whole is greater than the sum of all the individual forum members.

First of all let me say I have no axe to grind with anyone, Ken has also helped me in the past but I would say the title of this thread should be changed to Oddjob his version.
May well be the truth but only Ken knows.

I found that if they are left connected all the time they dry out the battery (lead acid).
I have 4 but don't use them anymore.
I take the batteries off and just give them a top up charge every now and again.
They are kept in a box I made so they are not exposed to very cold temperatures over the winter.

CB500/550 / Re: CWC spokes
« on: February 29, 2024, 11:48:36 AM »
I've had serious issues with that company too.  Most recently on a pair of sloper wheels with spokes too short.  I think I built those wheels 11 times as they kept asking for more and more photos. They kept quoting their 'bible' and years of experience and wanted us to pay for another set to my dimensions.  I said that if they were so confident that the ones they sent were correct, then put them back on the shelf and sell them to someone else and provide us with sets to my dimensions.  They accused me of lacing them incorrectly (more pics) then the rims must be wrong so I used a profile gauge on them and the originals (more pics) I was really pissed off with them by the end and will never deal with them again or recommend them to others.  Whether their system has changed or their 'bible' has been computerised (with all that that entails) I don't know but must have had 30 sets of spokes supplied correctly by them in the past without problems.
I can feel my blood pressure rising as I write this!  I was doing this as a favour for a mate!

Ian

I would not mind Ian but I sent them samples from the front and rear wheels, inner and outer spokes and they still got one of them wrong  ::)

I had exactly the same issue with them a while ago on the CD175 sloper rear wheel.
They were adamant that they were correct even though they didn't match the samples that were sent to them.
They wanted me to send them the wheel and they would lace it for £80, as I explained to them I was capable of doing it myself with the correct spokes as the samples they had.
After much ranting they did the wheel FOC just post costs.  >:( >:(

Many thanks Ash and Paul G for the info,
All is not lost it seems, I can easily drill the frame at that point and make a peg with a collar on the outside and a nut and washer on the easily accessible inside.  Now I know where it attaches I might even see the head of the original pin on the inside.  Ted, the plate on the pivot pin just stops the shaft revolving and rests at the 9 o'clock position.

Ian (A happy old man!)

The pictures of mine on the end is before it was welded in place.

Ash,
Did you send Ian the drawing you did for me as it was spot on  ;D
