Hi Trigger, yes it does have a shim on it. It seems to be perfectly flat and doesn't have any obvious marks on it. However, if you suggest it will be ok to run without it I shall if and when I find a replacement.

CB500/550 / Tachometer gear

Hi, last year when I rebuilt the top end on my cb550, I discovered why my tacho reading was so erratic. I found that the end of the Tacho drive gear was bent. I couldn't get the part from anywhere and after talking with Nurse Julie I opted to have a local welder heat it up and carefully straighten it. It was partially successful, in that it certianly was less bent but he didn't want to risk fracturing it so left it at that. Now I am back on the road running the engine in it's really bugging me to have the errratic needle all the time. I don't suppose anyone on here has one - part number 12431323000 - that they would be willing to sell? ::)

Hi Julie, my engine has started to leak fron either the " pontefract " pucks or the small O rings that go round the oil supply pipes at the side. i won't know until I strip it down, but need to know if these were the items you said that you may have.

Hi, I got all excited by the news that these were back in stock. About 3 years ago I bought three replacements from DS but when I went back to get the fourth one there was no more stock! ( I know I should have bought all four together but funds were tight and I replaced the three worst ones ) Anyway today I dusted of my debit Card and phoned DS. :-\ Yes Sir we have these back in stock......but you can only buy a set of FOUR. The MAN was very understanding of my plight, but he has been instructed they are only to be sold as sets and that's it. They do have three, top left ones classed as imperfect they can sell, but as he couldn't actually see them to describe them to me I really don't want to take a chance.
So...........anyone need a set of three pipes, but not the left upper? I know, I know, it's a real long shot but............

Sounds a good idea to me too. I would prefer Arundel or Brighton as a venue.
