Title: 400/4 for sale
Post by: RGP750 on July 24, 2018, 08:02:25 PM
Hi All
I have a friend in Wales that has to sell his 400 because his Wife had dementia .I think he may be asking too much.
Clearly a few non original parts but looks tidy  What price would you put on it ?

That looks a very nice bike Rich. Yes, some non standard parts on it but not the end of the world. How much is he trying to sell it for?.

Ah, that's sad. I think he would have to be a lot more realistic with the price for it to have a chance of selling. I take it the correct mileage is unknown as it has the wrong clocks on it.

Very sad. 71 and having to sell his bike and some freedom. It doesn't really matter what he gets for it the money I doubt will make him feel any better. Hopefully the happiness will come from having his wife sitting next to him in a convertible and they can enjoy some quality time together. Good luck to him in obtaining whatever he can for the bike. Someone bought an absolute wreck of a 400/4 on Sunday for £1,260!

There was one sold about 3 weeks ago, F1, very nice condition and well maintained but needed tank and panels painting as had been splashed all over with brake fluid, a few wrong parts but nothing drastic and that sold for £2,350. 3 days later, an F2 in very similar condition to mine but needed engine overhaul made £4,878.

And of course there's the auction bike with 1mile showing with an auction estimate of £6k and that needs some work to make it fit to ride!
In 20 years time they'll be the new Brough Superior!

I thought I recognised this bike...it looks a lot like this one... https://wesellclassicbikes.co.uk/bikes/650 . I don't think he is asking too much money for it as the asking price here was more! What put me off was the comstar wheels and plastic mudguard. He could consider changing those? I bought a different 400/4 off the same site at the same time, and paid £4,250. It wasn't the beautifully restored bike I was led to believe it was though, I've put over £1,000 into mine and more to come. looks great NOW!

He said he has it on other sites .
The comstar were on it when he got it ,he doesn't like them either .
Says he would go to £3000-00
fingers crossed for him.
