Yes of course, that makes a lot of sense !

It does say F1 on my V5 but I will double check with the engine number  ;D

Looking into the matter further  ;D and looking for the so-called manifold fitting kit, I called up the guys at Exactrep and then David Silver who told me that basically the kit comprises of a few pieces. See the diagram in the pic attached.

According to the guy at David Silver items 2, 3, 4 and 16 are necessary to fit a new Marving exhaust.

Unfortunately, item 2, the original exhaust joints are no longer available at DSS....

I'm also looking for an exhaust for my F1 - mine came with a Motad and I've been meaning to replace it. The sound just doesn't do justice to the bike.

There is one system available in Europe and that is the Marving Racing 4-1 system. I haven't bought it yet but I've seen it on this build and I think it looks awesome:

You can buy it from these guys:

Look at the bottom of the page it mentions something about requiring a manifold fitting kit.

Hope that helps!

CB750 / Nissin Caliper - Repair or replacement options?
« on: August 31, 2013, 03:52:22 PM »
Hi,

Right so I got myself in a bit of a mess when trying to bleed my rear brake as I was loosing a lot of pressure - it just wasn't breaking unless I pumped the brake at least 20 times.

The top part of the bleed nipple was broken and whilst trying to get out the remainder of the hollow screw with an easy-out, the easy-out broke staying stuck in the hollow screw. I tried to drill it out, using titanium drill bits but it didn't do much good and if anything I've now made a bad situation worse.

I spoke to a Nissin specialist who told me that basically the only way to do anything about it now would be to go to a spark erosion specialist - but he said they're expensive and would easily cost the price of a caliper - which is my other option.
Now this particular model of Nissin caliper (the stock one of my 77 CB750, I believe it's the 9V3 model) is not easy to come by. There are a few kicking about on ebay but I doubt that they would come in very good shape.

So I have a few questions:
- Has anyone used a spark erosion specialist and could share their experience (and perhaps details, particularly if they're in the London area)
- Has anyone replaced an identical caliper and if so with what.

I'm really looking for some input as I've been using only my front brake for the past few weeks and I really can't keep this up much longer!
Thanks!

Thanks for the welcome messages guys and sorry for the delay in responding I was expecting email notification

@ hairygit: yes I understand it is not totally legal, but a yellow plate would just spoil the look! I have kept the yellow one just in case, from what I understand chances of getting in trouble are small, ie. usually law enforcement is not too well aware of this 73 rule, and so they probably won't be able to tell. But the risk is there, sure.

@UK Pete: thanks. I'm in Battersea. How about yourself? Attending the bike shed on the 18-19th May?
I am commuting on this bike, which is pretty nice these days!

I'd like to know too!

Did you just cut off the silencer? Surely that affects the carb balancing, no?

And do you plan on leaving the airbox??

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a safe pair of hands to help me fit velocity stacks, modify the mufflers on a stock motad exhaust (or potentially fit a new silencer) and rebalance the carbs - any recommendations??

I know there is a place near Canary Wharf with a dyno, but I've had some average feedback on them.

Thanks
Rimmer

Dear members, fellow bikers and bikeresses,

It began about 3 months ago when I woke up one morning and decided that I couldn't carry on riding my Tmax (that's a 2010 500cc scooter by Yamaha) everyday to work. The Tmax works fantastically well, it's got a boot to store a full face helmet, a leg cover for the cold and rain, it's low maintenance, it's ideal to commute on but.....it's sooooooo boring!
I've been riding everyday (or just about) for the past 12y, had several bikes (several Yamaha fazers, a Suzuki SV), several scooters more recently, and had convinced myself that bikes (and manual gears) where not adapted to commuting.
All that went out the window that morning when I decided that I needed a ride with character, something with a soul that would be like an extension of myself. Perhaps it's also because in a couple of years I'll be 40, but that's another story...

I eventually set my mind on a Honda CB 750 - mostly because I like the builds of Steelbent customs. I found a 1977 F1 with 15,000 miles on ebay and bought it. It's just spent 2 months with Rex at Victory/Untitled in Camden who did a great job on it and kept my it to the budget agreed. I picked it up 2 weeks ago - it's fantastic, my life has changed! It's great to ride and when it's parked I can't stop looking at it !

Pic attached - although there has been another mod today when I had Rex fit a K model oil tank, it looks much much better, I'll upload another pic soon.

I have a several more modifications in mind and will look forward to getting advice and guidance from the forums.
Perhaps someday I can even contribute!

Thanks
Rimmer
