Steve at 400fourbits (http://www.400fourbits.co.uk/) has an assembly that is decent but has been repaired - depends how bad yours is.
Also CB-Four.com do a repro assembly - not cheap and out of stock at the moment anyway.
However the page also notes that the same part is used on the CB 400 F, CB 550 F and K as well CB 750 K7+F1+F2 so you may be able to widen your search.

I have a crate full of those from 550 and 750's. Will have a look to see if they are the same as the 400.
-
Can't believe how many I have of these but, found a good one out of all the chipped / scratched ones.
Yours for the price of post and a donation to the site.

Agreed Trigger, thanks

Ooops havn't donated for awile
So now done ;)

Do you have another one please Trigger!
I had one on order from DS, they were getting a pattern one from the US but called me today to advise there are no more available and they have no plans to manufacture anymore in the near or distant future :-[.
The one I have on 'Project 400/4' is cracked and has two broken lugs, the clocks are now fully restored and need a decent console to fit between them!
Happy to pay, I don't expect a freebie :)

Sorry, but that was the only one I had in good condition. The rest have broken lugs. Did see a nice one at DK the last time I was there, are you aware that they are the same on the CB550 ?

A friend of mine has one in good condition(I have it at home) send me a pm if you are interested.
Thank you.

Using the incorrect screws and or over tightening causes broken lugs on these warning light covers. A while back in a few idle moments I tried a repair on one of these covers. It was a scrap one and I never finished a final 'tidy up' on the repair as I had no intension to use the cover but clearly the repair would work. Now a replacement is apparently no longer available it might be the only option.
I made some brackets in mouldable plastic and secured them using two part epoxy adhesive. Obviously the technique requires refinement particularly the top lug, the side ones can hardly be seen but the top one needs to tidy.

Received mine today from Trigger, looks great, very pleased :)

If anyone has all the bits from broken or cracked ones can I suggest using an adhesive called Sci-grip SG5000-06. This is Toughened Methacrylate and I have used it successfully to repair the attachment lugs on my Yamaha which is made from ABS plastic. It will adhere really well to metal and plastics.
I buy small tubes from Glue Online. its not cheap but I found it worked really well and sets in 5 to 10 minutes.

Another one if anyone is looking >>>http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Honda-Cb400-cb550-clocks-dash-warning-light-L1-/142090535783?hash=item2115418367:g:SVEAAOSwMtxXtrzi

Looks like the cover is secured by csk wood screws rather than cross head ones and it looks like the top lug is split. The original screws are special ones designed for plastic their part number is: 9390224280 available from Silvers and they are black passivated. Silvers listing states they are 6x10 but that's confusing, well it is to me! Whilst the thread length is 6mm the head size is a number 8 I think. Maybe someone has a better knowledge of screw sizes as I've been asked for these on quite a few occasions and usually when they have found the are 63p each from Silvers. Add to that the P&P and it gets a bit excessive for 3 screws. To that end I'm trying to source screws of the correct type and no doubt they would be like 10p each if a box were bought. Anyone have any idea where to start looking? Incidentally quite a few other SOHC bikes use this console.

I think they are 'thread-forming' screws for plastics Peter. These are not the correct ones but the thread form is probably what's needed. think one tradename is 'Plastite' 1st link is available on request in black but unsure about black passivated zinc or 'Jappaned'

Thanks Ash, I'll take a close look as those. I did find some on another site but a minimum order of 5000 was way too many!
Not bothered about the finish, a spot of black paint on the if BZP.
Thanks again

Gateros plating do sell the black passivate chemicals for zinc but its a lot more expensive than the the other finishes. Allenchrome near me only do yellow chromate, bright chromate & olive drab finishes to zinc plating unfortunately.
