Post by: Andrewd2667 on December 08, 2016, 01:45:09 PM
Please can you advise if I can get the two rusted areas on the collector repaired - it is on both sides - the downpipes are in good condition. [attach=2]

Not sure where you'd buy a new one?

I wonder what sort of condition you want to end up with, are you looking for show condition or just a running repair.
If the rust isn't all the way through it could be stopped, I've got a product that will do this. Then you could clean up the area and then have it re-chromed.

Hello Peter
Just seen the topic.
I believe oxalic acid(wood bleach) will clear the rust out and is useful for cleaning chrome in general.
Leave to soak overnight then rub off.
Obviously it will re-rust if not rechromed but depends on what sort of finish you want
Regards
Foggy
