Title: 1978 Carbs
Post by: Stoko on March 21, 2017, 06:59:59 PM
Hello, I have broken the overflow tube off the base of the No. one carb!! Is this repairable at all and if so how? Alternatively has anyone got a replacement they could sell me? Cheers.

Welcome to the forum. CMS have them new if all else fails   http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb750f2-super-sport-england_model14689/16015-kn4-a10-chmbset_16015393004/#.WNF4qsCLSM8    Bit pricey but at least you can get one.

Welcome Stoko - enjoy this great forum.
I am having the same problem as the set of carbs I bought for my CR750 project have a few snapped off. I am going to drill out and insert a brass tube. Have ordered some brass tube off ebay -

Will either use the above as a friction fit or drill and tap M5 and insert a 'drilled down the middle' m5 brass screw -

- which will provide grip for the rubber tube. You only need to drill in a small amount, hence not disturbing the internal tubing

Thanks for reply! Thought about pressing it out and replacing! Are these just a press fit! Dosn`t seem to be much room for tapping before disturbing the inner tube! Cheers.

I think we would struggle to press such a small tube out. You have approx 15mm of casting - my plan is to drill in about half that - not to drill all of tube out (which would mess up the overflow height) - hence just inserting the part that the rubber tube goes over. Its worth a go as the worst case is we'll have to get another float bowl. Good luck

Excuse me!! Why are you seeming to  take the piss out of this post please?? First time on here and have a real problem that some people have responded to very well with sound advice/ suggestions and then I read posts from others that seem to be taking the Mick!! Have I missed something here?

Don't take it personally. It wasn't aimed at you.

I got a bit stroppy the other day because sometimes people occasionally join the forum and they have no intention to contribute but just use it like the free Adds

You'll get the hang of these two Stoko it's not aimed at you , it's just the Bill and Ben show. All part of the good humoured banter this forum is famous for.
