Title: Carburettors before and after pictures
Post by: 10tenmen on October 20, 2019, 09:32:13 AM: Well after removing the carbs to investigate the leak on no 4 the floats were very badly marked and I have no idea what the previous owner did to them but it looks like they were shot blasted whilst still built up. The floats and float bowls were in a bad state so I sent them to Gerben in Holland for a complete rebuild and replacement of parts.

Post by: 10tenmen on October 20, 2019, 10:13:03 AM: Hi Julie quite agree looks a top job I couldn’t get them done in this country for less than £350 so very pleased with the outcome. I will get it running then try syncing them. I have done the valVe clearances and checked the timing so fingers crossed I will have eliminated the top end bogging down issue.

Post by: TrickyMicky on October 21, 2019, 08:37:00 AM: Just been looking at the photos of the refurbished carbs, and at the risk if sounding "picky", should all the float bowl drain screws be facing the same way? I seem to remember that they were originally fitted as 2 x left and 2 x right to make accessibility a little easier.

Post by: 10tenmen on October 21, 2019, 01:24:44 PM: Mine was £175 + cost of sending which was £20 insured using Hermes return delivery included by Gerben, I paid extra for the replacement parts and he only uses the best quality seals and gaskets.

Post by: 10tenmen on October 23, 2019, 03:16:48 PM: Fitted the refurbished carbs today straight on no leaks (result) and I cannot tell you how much better it runs it now pulls to the red line a lot easier and is quieter than before and as a plus they look fantastic.
A big thumbs up to Gerben.
