Cheers Roo! That’s an anniversary model (50th Honda) just turned 6000mls on a 99 bike, it’s a sin!

To the Orkneys, does that count as delivery mileage? Nice bike and the weather looks fab for it too!

An old TA buddy of mine moved up to Kirkwall some years ago. He's an HGV Driver which I thought was a bit funny on Orkney....but he said there are over 40 miles of roads there ! I think he takes the Containers/ Trailers from the Ferry and distributes them around the Island.

Seeing as he was a simple Lad from Oldham, working in Haulage all his life, with many years doing weekly trips to Italy and other far flung spots, I was surprised when he upped sticks and settled in Kirkwall but he loves the place and has no regrets whatsoever. How many of us can say that ?

That is interesting, there’s a chance I might know him as I am also an HGV driver. Every single parcel and bag of sugar comes to Orkney via road and ferry. (I shudder to think of tonnage.) everything arriving on 45’ trailers and handled by 4 main haulage contractors. Probably spend more time hitching, dropping and shunting trailers than driving. Just the same problem here as rest of country, shortage of HGV drivers.
