Title: Cb 500 coils

In the copious amount of "stuff" I got along with my recent purchase are 4 sets of coils.
They all read 0 ohms when tested so I'm either doing it wrong or they are all scrap.
I dont want to buy used off ebay cos they will probably be the same, so can anyone recommend a source for
new ones or does anyone have some spare for sale.

Are you using the kohm scale if applicable. Having learnt the hard way!

Pretty sure Im doing it right. 200 range for primary looking for 3-5ohms, 2k range for secondary. looking for around 10k.

It would be very strange to find that many duff in one place, i havent seen an electricaly duff one ever, physicaly damaged yes

Have you looked in to replacing the HT leads. There is a post by Ash on how to do it and the test. Maybe in Ash's drop box  ;)

I would definitely look into ashs method for repairing them and replacing the leads at the same time.
I had the same issue as you and with a bit of trepidation followed the repair route, but it worked a treat and you at least then know you have got a fully functional pair of ignition coils.

look at the top of the page right hand side Ash’s Dropbox it’s in there scroll down a fair way just before CB450 DOHC
